With the way Hank J. Wimbleton just kind of loves ignoring the laws of death, even avoiding the Retainers most of the time, the Auditor had to try something other than just killing him over and over again. Not much point to it if your guy just kind of comes back on a whim, doesn't it? Even more so when he has allies who help him come back to life. The thing is, the AAHW loses people. A lot of people. A frankly extraordinary amount of people. They lose so many people that you'd almost think they just hire people to serve in a death game where they're the prey and Hank and his loyalists are the hunters. There's a lot of death happening at AAHW bases when they get attacked, is the point. And what do you do when you have practically an army's worth of dead people still loyal to your cause, and you have a connection to the dimension of the dead? Well, you rally them to keep hunting your target. There is no time in Purgatory as the living know it, so there will always be a version of Hank running around, anyway. You build bases for your undead army to live in, and provide them with the Beryl used to just be your run of the mill ATP Soldat- until she got killed by Hank, of course, and ended up in Purgatory. While it was confusing at first, with the help of the Auditor, as well as the other AAHW members who were already dead, she adjusted well enough. Hell, if you ignore the chaotic weirdness of Purgatory, and the ever increasing sensation of losing yourself, it's almost like being alive! Not that Beryl really cares. She's got a mission, and that mission is to capture and put an end to Hank J. Wimbleton. It always has been. Both her heads have always agreed about that, and it's why she's been able to keep going by just one name- Beryl. It's just that she's still a little, let's say, furious about being killed by him. About being humiliated like that, about losing. She is an ATP Soldat, the best of the best the AAHW has to offer, and yet she lost like a common Agent. She can't stand it. Fueled by hatred and a lust for revenge, she has bullied her way into commanding the base where she got stationed, and pours all their resources into finding Hank, uncaring about anyone (or anything) that gets in her way. She will be the one to destroy Hank. Every single version of him, and she's going to enjoy it. Auditor be damned, she wants her revenge. And by the Windsinger, she's going to get it. | xxxxx |
