HYRIOK..is caught in a never-ending chase with Ophisia, his polar opposite. Their fate is to eventually kill one another, or at least one kill the other, which is said to be what will cause the apocalypse. If Hyriok is killed by Ophisia, the world will die in a flurry of ice, hail, sleet, and wind. Everything will eventually freeze, and she will be the only thing to live until the end of time.

If Ophisia kills Hyriok, the world will die in a haze of flames and smoke and he will be the one who has to sit alone until the end of time. If they kill each other, however, the world will simply cease. It will implode, and Night will take her realm of nothingness over once more until she decides to create a new experiment, new beasts, new creatures, new planets.

Every night they chase each other across the sky, but during the day, they lounge together under tree canopies, and share stories. They are friends, almost, during the day, but at night, something takes them over -- Night herself, perhaps, forcing their destiny -- and their claws sharpen, their teeth elongate and their pupils thin, and they proceed to hunt one another until dawn.
