Artemis came to the clan with Lightbane, another mirror dragon, when they were hatchlings. The two were so close that many dragons suspected that they would become mates. However their relationship remained that of siblings. Even though they were from different parents, Lightbane was more her brother than her actual siblings who had been cast off to roam the lands like she was. When the two mirror dragons arrived, the ShadowStar clan had grown much from it's original size of two small fae dragons. The clan spanned the caves underneath Kylara's amber nest. The two mirror dragons however did not trust other dragon species, and kept to themselves. They would have left if not for the fact that it was dangerous for two hatchlings to wander on their own. Especially in these areas with corrupted dragons like the Mad running about. They were forced to stay. If it wasn't for Fallon, they may have stayed on their own and kept their resources to themselves. The older Mirror dragon took them under his wings. He hunted and fought with them and became the older brother they never had. Slowly they began to open up to the rest of the clan.

As Artemis grew it became time to chose her calling. Unfortunately she was unsure of the path that was right for her. She was good at hunting so she chose that as her first calling and her skills lead to her becoming the first Taskmaster of Hunting. However she wasn't happy. She preferred to go off by herself rather than coordinate teams. And if she was being honest, she liked hunting because of the places she got to explore in the past. Now that she was apart of a clan, she couldn't do that since the clan had specific hunting sites that always yielded the best prey. Sensing her unhappiness, Dart, a small fae dragon who was secretly smitten with her encouraged her to follow her heart. She stepped down from being a taskmaster and was the first dragon to change her role. She became an explorer, to the surprise of the clan but not to Fallon who knew Artemis was more suited for the freedom the Explorers Faction provided.

Afterwards She continued to follow her heart as she took Dart as her mate. Afterall he was the only one in the clan who could make her laugh. And was the only one besides her fellow mirrors to see past the façade she wore as the Taskmaster of Hunting. She is now as happy as she can be, though she still doesn't show that to everyone.
