Biography
Name: Adephon
Mate: Selassie
Role: Ambassador of the Crystal Sages
As a Crystal Sage, Adephon faced many challenges. First, he is a crystal dragon, a dragon who's scales gleam like gems, covered in a thin layer of crystal, a rarity among the sages. Those who are born with crystal traits are considered to be the highest purity of Crystal Sage, with those who have three gem traits being, the ultimate dragons. Adephon's crystal scales put great expectations on him. Second, he chose Selassie, a lesser dragon as his mate. The elders foresaw that their unity would not bring forth crystal offspring nor even semi crystalized offspring bearing the opal traits. In fact most of their offspring would have Selassie's stripes and Adephon's spines but they would not be crystalized in any way. This would not do for the elders and the rest of the Sages. Finally he experienced great visions in the walls of the cave. The Crystal Sages believe that the Crystalline Caverns created them in order to protect themselves from the effects of the Sphere of Oblivion. And a crystalized hide is only part of the deal. They also have the ability to see glimpses of the future in the facets of the cave walls. When Adephon, was walking the caverns one night alone, the cave walls grew bright and flashed before his eyes. In their smooth walls, he saw a vision of a growing clan. Two fae dragons in a nest, surrounded by hatchlings of many different kinds. In the morning Adephon ran to tell the elders of the new clan in their caves. However elders, who in the past foresaw great violence, said that the vision was of a new army, bound to invade them. An army made to serve the Sphere. They began to make preparations to protect themselves and if that meant attacking the new clan first, then so be it.
However Adephon knew they were wrong. They had twisted his vision into something sinister, but he knew different. The gaze of the two fae's held nothing but kindness and good humor. He felt he was the only one who could save the new clan from the wrath of his kin. He prepared for the journey, Selassie by his side as she was the only one who believed him. They journeyed through the caves for days until they found the cavernous entrance where the new clan had set up their roots. Once they were determined to not be dangerous, the two Crystal Sages were welcomed by the ShadowStar clan, and provided with both food and a warm bed. There they watched the younger hatchlings play and the other dragons carry out their duties. While they stayed, they joined hunting parties and the scavengers, helping out in anyway they could. But what amazed both of them even more was that they saw acceptance. It did not matter what colour or pattern a dragon had, they were all accepted equally. For the first time, his mate, Selassie felt like she belonged and she was the happiest he'd ever seen her. He realized they could raise their hatchlings here, away from the judgmental eye of the sages who disproved of his union and potential offspring. They decided that they would stay with the ShadowStar clan.
However their presence would not go unnoticed by the Crystal Sages. The elder's asked the caverns to show them where Adephon had gone, and they showed him amongst his new clan. The elders were angered at his disappearance and summoned up their most skilled warrior, Keen the skydancer dragon. Keen would track down Adephon. When the pearlcatcher refused to return with him, Keen would try to take him by force. Adephon dodged the attack and the commotion lead to a rockfall that would injure Keen. Adephon was safe for now but Keen was only the beginning. The Crystal Sages were preparing for war. Selassie, who by now was carrying his eggs and would lay them any day, saw the threat in the stone walls. She was filled with dread but Adephon promised to protect her. He warned his new clan and they prepared for battle. The crystal sages came and Adephon stood by his new clan, refusing to leave them. He and Selassie both were deemed traitors. All around dragons bristled with anger, waiting to see which side would spill the first blood, when a cry to stop sounded from the upper caves. Keen had returned, and by his side was the clan's alchemist, Vivacia. Keen stood by Adephon's side, apologizing for attacking him and told the Sages to go home. So many of the sages warriors respected Keen and seeing him deem the clan no threat, they turned their back and returned home. The leaders stood flabbergasted, and Adephon told them this was now his home where he and his chosen mate would raise their family. As more Crystal Sages would come to live with the ShadowStar clan, Adephon would become their leader and ambassador.
