"So Many Books, and So Little Time..."

Third Wheel
Chewy Tentacle
Redknee Tarantula
The library was dusty and smelled of a particular musk of things long forgotten between crumbling pages. Every creak of the floor sent up a swirl of dust into the golden rays of light that splashed their ways though the smudged windows. "Ah," Rupert shouted from the stacks, "Here we are."

The tome he procured looked as though it had seen better days, its spine cracked but lovingly kept together with hands that perhaps never meant to be a librarian. "Whatever you are looking for is in here, if you can even read it at all," he said with a smirk. He knew well the language blazoned on its cover was dying or perhaps it was already dead by now.

"I don't know what it says either, sadly," He busied himself with the small glass jars of tiny spider slings stacked onto one of the shelves like potion jars in an apothecary. "I simply know that because it can not be read, it has the answers that people want inside it. That's how it all usually goes when dealing with the sort of thing I deal with. I once banished a demon by reading a paragraph simply because it felt right."

One of the jars has a particularly aggressive young sling inside it that reared its legs at him. Rupert scolded it before dropping in a moth and capping the jar closed again. "The moths get out of hand this time of year. But the spiders get fed and the books get saved, so it is the circle of life."

Hailing from a small island, Rupert had always fancied himself far too learned and intelligent to fall prey to the myths and legends so common in his area of the world. That is, until something strange happened to him that he simply could not rationalize.

Even though he tried to find answers, he was stumped. After that, he kept the instance to himself until he ran into a few people that seemed to be interested in what exactly he had experienced. Out of that run-in grew friendship and eventually he ended up working with them as their researcher.

81935306p.png Core
Rupert isn't one for long lasting relationships that breech into the personal, but somehow, in some way, Core has managed to weave his way into Rupert's life like a fungus. Not that Rupert is exactly complaining about it, he very much enjoys Core's companionship and sense of humor. Even if he does bully him a lot, he wouldn't trade Core for the world.
Shrimp
Rupert met Shrimp through Jack and Core and while they don't have much that overlaps int he way of interests, he can't say that he doesn't like her. She maybe a little off putting with her head too much in the clouds for Ruperts more earthbound academics, but he has accepted her readily and also has given Core his blessing on their upcoming engagement.
82005238p.png
81773784p.png Dex
Dex is one that Rupert can spend time with in utter silence and that's what he likes about the man. Although Dex isn't very bright when it comes down to it, at least he will listen when Rupert starts to bounce ideas off of him. He also is very good at taking what is said to him that's new information and keeping it organized. Which is more than anyone could say for Rupert.
Jack
Jack and Rupert may not be able to get along for long stretches of time, when they are working together things get done at an amazing pace. Even though he thinks Jack has ideas that are far too wild to be accepted into the realm of possibility, he sometimes finds himself amused by them. That is, until they start debating each other about them.
