"Never give up hope. Because you never know who comes back, and who stays away."

Portal is the mother of Evangeline and Skliger. She is a peaceful Coatl who takes care of her dove, naming it Hope. When Evangeline disappeared, she never gave up hope that she was still out there, surviving the wilderness, even when everyone else gave up hope. She adores jewellery, and wears it all the time, which is where Skliger got her love of jewellery.
When Evangeline came back, she was waiting with open wings, because she knew, she knew, that her daughter was alive. She was alive and safe, when everyone else had given up hope.
She is also the hatchling caretaker, who looks after the hatchlings, whether they are born here or bought from the Auction House.
