PERSONALITY The people of Little Sun have always been wary of those who spend too much time underground. A basement was surely better than the caves themselves, but it was still corruption after a sort. As a result, Briar- who had spent the first several years of his life underneath the physician's home- is regarded with some suspicion. Though no one can deny his skill as a doctor, they venture into his home less and less for maladies that might be settled without him. He's all right with this treatment. Growing up, he spoke to no one but the previous physician, who was himself somewhat suspicious of the townsfolk. He is lonely, but being lonely is better than the anxiety of speaking to those who think he is some sort of harbinger for the caverns below. HISTORY When Briar was a hatchling, he caught a deadly disease. His parents, merchants on their way to the Silver City, were unable to care for the child as he needed. Thus, he came to reside in the care of the physician of Little Sun. His illness was such that the physician kept him locked in the basement, away from the rest of the town for everyone's safety. He was never mistreated, though the physician treated him as a patient and not a son; it was a lonely and often boring childhood, when he was well enough to have one at all. The day the physician died was the first time anyone else in town had seen him since his treatment began. Tall and proud, with angry marks and scarring forever marring his body (particularly his eyes), he carried the body to the wake, and then from the wake to the grave. From then on he lived in the old physician's house, taking on his role in the community and caring for the sick and ill. CONNECTIONS
