Right Hand Man:
It's far from uncommon to see the infected recruiting their partners... however, it seems that Valentino is being used like a puppet. It started as Val being in charge, but that swiftly shifted as Roxanne came into his story. He loves Roxanne to a fault: her beautiful stature, intimidating demeanor, the way she can scare off and command amazes him. He is entranced... and maybe a bit jealous of her. His immediate willingness to enable and put her in a rank higher than himself truly shows this. Although, it also reveals his biggest flaw... his self esteem. It, like a river, drifts away with each splash Roxanne makes.

Yes, I know this has little to do with Roxanne herself. However, it's important to establish this relationship. Roxanne herself is completely unaware of the underlying damage she has caused. To be quite blunt, it really has nothing to do with her as she is just being herself. In fact, if she had to cut all ties with Valentino, it would be like throwing a pebble at a brick wall. It is Valentino, who has used her as a model for everything he wants to be, that has caused himself more pain than she ever could. You can't build a wall out of water.

The Brick Wall:
She never knew her father and never cared to wonder about him. He was a warrior... not a parent and she understood that. Her walls were built up very early on when her mother left her in the orphanage. It took her a while to realize that she was not a main part in the cast of her story anymore. Hope was an adventurer... not a parent, she knew that too. So, in her upbringing she took upon the study of war. She wanted to follow in the footsteps of her father, for the life of a traveler with no conquest felt pointless. Her mentor filled her head with the tools to become not just a warrior, but a leader. In her studies she prioritized Amunrahx and eventually traced him to a legend... a mythology... no... a parasite.

When she found Valentino, she had found the perfect shell to pour her talent into. Now, he is at her side and she will fight for the light. Even if her perception of it has been skewed by the bias of the parasite itself musing through Valentino. It was a result of her misunderstood idol, so how could it possibly be bad?
