"Time will tell."

The small, pink eyes were barely even open. Scattered shards of egg shells were littered about, a testament to the new hatching of the small nest. There were only two eggs, not exactly twins in colour, but close. Still, identical sets of pink eyes would blink then close, blink then close...

"I don't want them to be like---"

"Shh. Let them sleep."

A gentle clinking of metal came as weighted piles of treasure tumbled down, divots made in their surfaces. The hatchlings were moved away from the egg shells, and a roll of soft cloth was splayed out for them, a makeshift nest amid the glittering gold. Neither really woke, and though there was concern, it wasn't immense.

"We will present them within the fortnight. The others should know."

There was no response, but a heavy dragging of scales easily indicated one of the two dragons that was present was leaving.

The hatchlings continued to rest, nestled against each other. It was hard work coming into the world, after all!

A sliver of shadow trailed between the two before dissipating entirely. It was probably just a trick of the low firelight...
