Biography

._
Eosphoros
"My talons are the forgers of these gods you worship, from me they came, and to me they must return..."

boNUHo3.png

A calm entity existing on the edge of the observable universe, looking upon what he has made with a loving expression.

Some sadness is hidden in his eyes, he watches his grandchildren congregate at the edges of nests, welcoming new lives, new sparkles of energy entering the world, ripping another scale off his body. The look of pure joy on his beloveds' faces makes up for all the centuries of suffering that came before, the cost.

There was a time when he, too walked the planet, among the first four of his children, caring for them and carving their domains specially for each of them. He remembers distinctly when him and Earthshaker walked along what is now the Greatwyrm's Breach for decades, discussing the origins of sentience.

He can remember when him and the Windsinger first went on a flight together, the feeling of weightlessness that seems to be only captured in that one moment. The night after, Windsinger had composed his first melody, a song that sounded as if was being carried by cranes into the heavens.

Experiences so dear to him, he feels his wings getting crushed as he wishes so desperately to bound over and protect them from what is coming. But he is shackled to fate, only mortal, despite how long he has avoided death.

His days are filled with thinking, wondering what awaits him once he passes through the void. The gold-clad god has recently lost hope of saving even a spark of life to withstand his end, watching others be snuffed out is painful, after all.

Despite his own power and lifespan, he is only a mortal, like all other beings, and cannot stop the ebb and flow of energy.

The times of indulgence are long gone now, and he has since faded from memory. Now he just waits for The Final Calamity.

The Quarreling of the first four has started to rock the earth with tremors of emerging gods, slowly coiling till four new forms began to take shape, causing further division and blame among the fledgling deities.

Ruckus began to stir, and something seemed to be watching carefully from the shadows, waiting to pounce.

At the time of The First Calamity, I had gathered eight children, four new gods had erupted from torn battlefields, shining with the shed blood of their siblings. Light, Shadow, Ice and Storm wreaked the world, soon adding their own contribution to the Slaughter.

War was something so common, it seemed as if the world itself was content with eternity. The battles were long and hard, gashing the land with thunder and crisping the surface with an eternal sun. Ice fought with Shadow, grappling together to create the darkest of frozen glaciers, Storm and Light had forged a feud with the Tide, turning the beaches of his land into glass bright enough to reflect light’s power.

As the bedlam was coming to a climax, and the death of the tide was imminent, time froze. The god of Light, having her claws wrapped around the Ocean's throat, had begun to dim.

All the eight could do was watch as the void creeped over them, opening it's maw, demanding they return the energy they had manifested from.

A single, golden tear had rippled down my cheek as I floated above it all, knowing I could not save those closest to me, for even if they managed to emerge victorious, The Calamity would return. Balance, something even gods cannot outrun.

As this tear dropped from my whisker, I summoned all inklings of StarSpeaker, traces of a god I was not worthy of being called.

The world shattered for a moment, ripping away the history of it's maker, and forming the scraps into the Lesser Lord Venus, the memory of the stars. She would wait, silently recording history, till any soul might find her.

No longer StarSpeaker, I left the world I had made. The fading god, me, took on the name Eosphoros, in honor of being the first star, the light of the dawn.

Eosphoros had always been there, since the beginning. He had been a part of the great everything and for a while he had felt absolute wholeness that few would ever truly be able to experience.

And he had been so, so happy.

And he had loved them so, so much.

And his tears could have filled up the entire planet when they hated each other so, so much. To fight for ultimate power, to fight for a future without each other.

His tears could have filled up the entire universe when the shade had come, the entropy made from endless fighting, an end to their beginning.

He could not hate the shade, not really. What seemed so evil to any other being was simply nature. Where life, there was death. Where sound, there was silence. Where energy, there was entropy.

He knew one day, the fight would be fought, and they would lose. Their might would not be able to hold off against a being of pure emptiness, in a very literal sense of the word.

He too, would succumb, someday. The thought terrified him. His one and only fear.

But he couldn't bring himself to hate the shade. Even as they bared down onto their beautiful creation, for this was simply an inevitability. That didn't stop the heartbreaking sadness of it all, however.

After such terrible wars raged over the planet, the beautiful new births, the suffering, such wonderful life was still born upon the world. His wonderful grandchildren carved their own path, And they were all so smart, so wonderful.

Some blazed their own trails, finding wonder in the creation that they made, ever changing and ever shifting, but he knew it like the back of his paw. Such wonderful creations being beat down by the endless entropy just beyond the field containing them.

All he could do was watch, watch as each of his grandchildren lived and died, watch the inevitability of eternity someday come to an end, like theirs do. And love them every day, no matter what.
