Ectoplasme and Spectre are both possessed by the same ancient spirit: the Eudaemon. They act as the her vessels in the physical realm, having agreed to the arrangement in exchange for eternal life together.

By sharing the burden of hosting the Eudaemon, they have managed to become conduits for her power without completely deteriorating--one dragon alone would have surely been destroyed long ago by her overwhelming force. Even still, they are quite distinct from your every day dragon.They no longer eat or sleep. Over time, their colors have faded away to white. They forgot their original names, now going by the nicknames given to them when they arrived at the Monster Mash.

The Eudaemon seems to mostly be a positive force in Sornieth, but she is so old and alien to the realm that it is difficult to say that she is exactly a force for good. Moreso, her intentions seem to just happen to line up well with the good of dragonkind more often than not. All living creatures in Sornieth had better hope that trend continues...

Ectoplasme acts mainly as the Eudaemon's am ambassador to the physical realm. The Eudaemon's method of communicating takes quite a bit of getting used to; thoughts and feelings and complex swirling forces from the vastness of her consciousness touching one's mind directly can have devastating consequences. Ectoplasme does her best to translate and minimize the number of dragons they leave in their wake as shells of their former selves after contact.
