Maple + Syrup > Me!
Maple + Syrup > Me!
Already showing signs of a feisty spirit, Jumana is the first to eagerly claw her way out of her egg. She excitedly scrambles to her feet and attempts to make her way toward her father but topples over. Undeterred by the mishap, she simply gets back up, shakes off, and continues with her mission. Maple smiles and gently lifts her up when she finally reaches him.
The first sign of Jumana's magic takes form as a silvery sparkle, which gathers neatly across her clawtips. Soon it takes on a rusty red color, and begins to thicken into callous flesh. It itches. Time moves on. Happiness breeds boredom, a desire to move on from everything. She burrowed her hands in the topsoil and looked for something of interest, but everything continued on the same. The same day, the same sun, the same moon. The sky and the earth. Her heart continued beating. The sun continued burning. She wanted more, she want to see something that this reality had offer her, she wanted to feel something beyond the monotony of her life. She wanted to run through the grass and the trees, like a beast. Time continued. Jumana grew into a young woman, still itching for adventure. She wanted so much more them what her sickeningly sweet parents could give her, she wanted to venture out into the wild, she preyed to the gods, to the Keeper of the Glades, that she would be allowed to. Something answered her, but it she wasn't a God. |
She dreamt of the Woods. A place of tangled desire and dark desire, where the sun was an uncertain light in the gray sky and the world of human limits did not exist, and the only laws were the laws of the deer, the law of the bear. The porous nature of identity is writ large when it comes to gods and spirits, and she wanted to be with it all. She saw the great wolves, who gnash at the sky, at the noosphere, and she wanted to be among them
But who was the predator? Who was the prey? It was all a dream. A dream of the Woods. The numinous overflows the circle. The daemonic always exceeds. The only way to live with that? To be daemonic in ourselves. Fugitive. Transient. Truly Mortal. “Immortal mortals, mortal immortals, one living the others death and dying the others life.” And so, she ran. |
