HISTORY
They hatched high in the crystalline treetops of the Starwood Strand, and learned to fly by hopping among the glittering branches. Her claws left scratches in faceted tree trunks, her snout crinkled against the sting of shards of glass pollen. They rarely touched down on the ground, but delighted in the strange properties of the crystal forest. This is where they learned their love of arcane botany. They created a collection of samples; seedpods, pollen, razor sharp leaves kept and organized in a large cabinet of curiosities. Kept under her cloak, the cabinet telegraphs their every move with a chorus of clinks from a hundred glass vials. Their parents encouraged this interest, as they themselves were tinkerers in arcane sciences. Within her clan, she spent a lot of time with other guardian dragons their own age, and when they ventured out of the clan to find a charge, Lorimer followed suit. They hoped to discover and study some yet unknown plant life, influenced by the magic of the flights that they are found in.

Lorimer was carried to the Haven like a spiraling helicopter seed, falling into the laps of Rianna and Mirelish, a pair of pearlcatcher dragons hosting a piece of the Viridian plant in their bodies. For some time the curious botanist studied from afar, until Rianna noticed and nearly gutted the dragon for spying. Lorimer hastily explained their vocation and curiosity, and Rianna begrudgingly heard her out. She said that the traits exhibited by the Cerdae were fascinating, and that they’d never had the chance to observe such perfect symbiosis between dragon and plant. They begged Rianna to allow them to stay and study the pair, a request Rianna initially denied.

Upset, but not defeated, Lorimer sought council with the Overseers, petitioning for the right to join the Haven and learn more about the relationships the clan’s dragons had between themselves and the landscape they inhabited. Heavensent permitted Lorimer to join, under the condition they earn the trust and consent of any dragon they want to study.

So far, Lorimer has taken a particular interest in Golem, Ladore, Awela, Medrona, and of course the pair of Pearl Cerdae. Of those, only Awela has given consent to be studied (so far). Lorimer occupies their free time by discussing arcane applications with Secaryn and occasionally Ilke. Both of these fellow scientists have expressed concern that Lorimer, despite warnings, has been attempting to splice samples from her collection with her own body…
