Orion

A highly respected senior scholar of the Sunforger clan, Orion is steady, patient, and wise. He is a writer who collaborates with Calliope on scholarly texts, histories, and books of stories for hatchlings and older dragons alike. Philosophy is one of his greatest passions. He is deeply devoted to his pair-bond, Aura.

Orion came to the Sunforger clan when he was very young, barely out of his egg. For this reason, Selena became a surrogate mother to him, and he absorbed her calm fortitude and wisdom. Unlike many young dragons, Orion never felt the impulse to journey away from the clan that raised him. He wanted nothing more than the help build the small Sunforger clan into a great and proud lair. When Aura arrived, he slowly began his courtship of her. The feeling was mutual, and they declared their dedication to one another in front of the assembled Sunforger clan.

Orion spends much of his time overseeing the imperials of the Sunforger clan. Although Anwyn and Astarael set themselves apart, Orion guides, leads, and teaches the rest with patience and kindness. He reports to and works with Selena and Firelight in this regard. He has earned the esteem of the entire Sunforger clan, and he takes his responsibilities very seriously. His worship of the Lightweaver led him to take a pilgrimage to the Beacon of the Radiant Eye; for this act of devotion, the Lightweaver graced his scales with brilliant golden patterns.

He is aware of the dangers of such a large group of Imperials living close together. If any should ever die, Orion has volunteered to be responsible for the disposal of the body. He was somewhat reassured by Astarael's presence – although he did not know the specifics of the Paladin's calling, she had given him to understand that she has ways of combatting an Emperor if one were to emerge. Sadly, when one did emerge, Astarael was powerless to stop her. The paladin in disgrace could no longer protect her clan, and shortly thereafter fled to the Lightweaver's embrace. In her absence, Orion assumed responsibility for guarding the Emperror-possessed Anwyn while the clan was in exile in the Plaguelands. After Anwyn was cured, Orion still kept a close eye on her. He was one of the main voices advocating for the return of the Sunforger dragons to the Sunbeam Ruins once the true Emperor Luminax arose, believing that the clan's experience in casting out an Emperor's spirit could be of use in battle against such a monstrosity in the flesh.
