Firelight

Firelight came to the Sunforger clan as a hatchling. The founder and original matriarch of the clan, Selena, had made a habit of taking in orphaned young dragons, giving them a nurturing home and a thorough education as befits children of the Lightweaver. But this youngster was different. At a surprisingly tender age, she set about peppering Selena with questions about the running of the clan. At first, Selena was unsure of the vivacious young Wildclaw, but Firelight's wit, intellect, and practical yet compassionate outlook quickly won over the clan matriarch. As Firelight matured, Selena began to give her opportunities to practice leadership skills, first by looking out for the clan hatchlings, then by guarding the clan vault. Firelight quickly proved herself with these early tests, demonstrating creativity, thoughtfulness, dedication, and kindness. Soon, she was named Selena's second-in-command and it was widely expected that she would be the one to lead when Selena stepped down from her position.

When she grew up, Firelight declared an intent to study fighting in order to better protect the clan. She organized herself and her best friend Calliope into a fighting team, but she knew she needed a third member. She saw the Guardian Tyr struggling to fit into the clan and find a role, so she offered him a place as fighting partner. The three of them quickly became formidable and skilled, bringing back treasure and food to the clan and protecting their territory. Selena was further impressed by Firelight's work ethic and her perceptiveness in taking on Tyr as a fighting partner.

Firelight and Calliope, in time, became more than just best friends. Their bond, forged in battle, grew and deepened into a great romance. To the delight of the clan, they declared that they were pair-bonded. The heir to the matriarchy and the clan librarian could often be seen wandering through the Sunbeam Ruins, not fighting or hunting but simply together.

Everything changed when Anwyn completed her ritual. Selena, in shock and undone, could not take charge when the clan needed her most. Firelight had no choice but to take over primary leadership of the clan after Anwyn's transformation. After consulting with Calliope and Orion, Firelight chose to go to the one place where she was sure they would not be shunned – the Scarred Wasteland. She assumed the title of Matriarch of the Sunforger Clan. It was she who first saw the potential of an alliance with Plague dragons, she who proved herself in a duel with Reaper in order to be accepted as valued partners. The duel was bloody on both sides. Neither Reaper nor Firelight were willing to yield. In the end, Calliope and Ashtoreth intervened and broke up the fight, then declared the result to be an honorable tie – a rare concession from Plague dragons.

Now, Firelight works closely with Ashtoreth and Reaper. While the Sunforger and Chaos Star leaders don't always see eye to eye on philosophy, the Plague dragons have respect for Firelight's strength, both as a commander and a fighter. This has greatly helped to smooth relations between the allied clans. Within the Sunforger Clan, Firelight's leadership is a source of strength and comfort for all in her care. They look to her for guidance, and she gives it wisely.

When Luminax arose in the Sunbeam Ruins, Firelight decided to lead the clan back, hoping to use their experience with Anwyn to bring the creature down. It was she who convinced Reaper and Ashtoreth to bring the Chaos Star clan along, with the hope of testing their strength in new lands against new foes.
