Biography

“...it is well that they cannot travel far outside the world of dream. But over the nearer parts of the dream-world they pass freely, flitting small and brown and unseen and bearing back piquant tales to beguile the hours around their hearths in the forest they love."
The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath

ZOOGS

Zoogs are a small, crepuscular mammals native to the forested areas in Dreamland. A lone zoog often falls prey to small carnivores, so they prefer to lurk unseen in the shadows. However, zoogs live in colonies and present strength in numbers. While their diet consists mainly of fungi, they are actually opportunistic omnivores. Even dragons should exercise caution when passing near their network of burrows and tree hollows, marked by glowing moss and mushrooms.

Zoogs are intelligent creatures with a strong social hierarchy. Young zoogs engage in play, and even adults may discretely stalk anything that peeks their curiosity. As such, they have a vast knowledge of Dreamland, and sometimes make brief forays into the Shadow flight's territory. They would make a wise ally for any Dreamer, but their skittish nature makes them hard to befriend. They also have a longstanding enmity with cats, the typical Dreamer's companion. That aside, they may teach their "fluttery" sounding language to any dragon that is patient enough to earn their trust.
