Biography
___ |
I was a nobody. I did not want to be found; I did not want to be disturbed. I ran and hid, vanishing into the woods for years, disguising myself as a giant wolf to keep dragons from interacting with me. They all hated me-- I knew it. I was an Arcane dragon who couldn't even figure out how to use magic. I was useless. My teacher had told me so. But an Arcane mage named Torix saw me. I almost killed him when he came near me, because I was enraged that I'd been discovered. Why did he care to come near me? What unkind words did this evil Arcane dragon come to say? "I sense your loss and bitterness, brother. Can I help you?" | ___ |
Torix hung on to hope for me with steadfast gentleness. Every day, he came back to where he'd first found me. He was like a counseling older brother, talking with me and giving me little hints of guidance in magic. He coaxed me to join his clan, to find others who would love and guide me just like he did.
I tried to say no. I tried to believe that all dragons hated me. But with how Torix treated me, I couldn't believe that much longer.
And so, one day, I followed him home.
When I walked into that clan, I realized I was cared for. All of the dragons there already knew about me from Torix, and they gave me kind words and hugs and wanted to get to know me immediately. Many of the magical ones and Skydancers could sense my pained and troubled past and wanted to comfort me. I cried. They meant it. They were nice. Dragons were nice.
I stayed there for a long time. When Calida joined the clan, I figured, "I should welcome her as this clan welcomed me." So I became her friend. Just as Torix had done, I never let myself be irritable. I was always honest and caring. And I learned that she had insomnia and amnesia, so she was very forgetful and somewhat crazy, but we became close. Very close. One day in mid-autumn, after explaining my past to her, I decided to show her the woods where I used to live-- where I hid from dragonkind.
The fact that I was bringing a Fire dragon into a very flammable wooded area didn't cross my mind.
Needless to say, I wasn't expecting to burn alive and die that day.
Now, the only way I can ever talk to her is in her dreams. And she doesn't remember who I am.
But she still loves me, and I still love her. And that's all that matters.
