Next to nothing is known about this creature. Those that take frequent trips into the void, such as Psyche and Echo, are fully aware of her existence. But they rarely see her, let alone speak to her. The Void was born a millennium ago, on a dark and dreary day. But it was lonely; the Brighter Realm had gone off on its own, and so it had no company, no friends or family. It didn't want to be lonely, so it created a dragon. This dragon was born on the higher layers of the Void, but as the years passed he travelled down to explore the rest of the domain. When the dimension was still young, she found it quite uncomfortable; the darkness twisted and turned around her, trying to sink in its claws. It was always very cold, and creatures began to appear, screaming and wailing and attacking on sight. Whispers would beckon her to give in to madness; to become one herself. But he persisted, and over the centuries the Void grew comfortable. The strange realm was no longer foreign; it was home. Eventually, he found his way into the Clearing. The Clearing was by far the most amazing place the dragon had ever seen. There were no creatures; no threats at all. A pleasant quiet blanketed the area, and a nice tree provided shelter from anything and everything that might appear. One day, the tree started to glow. On the other side, another dragon touched a rune. And two sides of the same coin - of the same Tree - met. |
