The only remaining child from Lucian's first clutch, Ornan was raised alongside his siblings Amanda and Acantha, as well as his stepsiblings Narumi, Ieremija and Frostie. Ornan was a lonely hatchling and quickly latched onto his siblings and stepsiblings, and was thoroughly devastated when all but Narumi left the Rotmarrow Clan to pursue higher callings. With his support network decimated, something snapped in Ornan's mind and he hasn't been the same since.

After his siblings' departure, Ornan became reclusive and bitter, delving deep into his father's practice of blood magic. While Lucian limits himself to rituals that benefit the Clan, though, Ornan sought power and ways to connect with his siblings despite their ascension. Ornan stared into the abyss, and the Abyss stared back.

Whatever happened during that fateful ritual, Ornan has never been the same, forever cursed to share his mind with something Other, burrowed into the space the drive to find a Charge should have been. Ornan refers to It only as The Meat, and while he refuses to talk about what It says to him, Its presence clearly affects him both physically and mentally. Ornan has had dramatic shifts in personality and physicality since finding The Meat, a fragile dragon whose scales are becoming soft and sloughing off. He often has mental breakdowns that Narumi calls 'episodes', wherein he does nothing but scream and claw at his own skin- Pin is the only one who can outright stop them, and given that Pin is a very busy dragon, it's usually best just to have Cocoa on standby far enough away that his lashing out isn't able to reach her.

Whatever The Meat is, Lucian has sworn vengeance upon It for breaking his son.
