Time was nothing to a creature such as Null. It started out as a fragment of Shade, thought to be dead like the entity it had broken off from. But it was far from dead and as the ages wore on, Null did what it does best: devour. Its hunger was insatiable. A constant gnawing in what would've been a living creature's stomach. Feeding on anything it could find, it grew in strength and continued its destruction across Sornieth. Prey was easy to catch when nothing knew how to deal with such a predator. But things always change and dragons were formed to deal with creatures such as Null.

Growing, adapting, evolving were the only way to combat such hulking beasts and their containments. While the weak fragments perished, Null's power strengthened as it learned how to deal with these new threats. Adaptation drew out another thought outside of its hunger: cunning. Null learned tricks to fooling its enemies and luring prey to it—much more fun and stimulating than the former mindless eating. Its form changed with times to in order to mimic dragon kind.

Hunting was too easy now. The thrill of the chase for such an apex predator had faded. Null's hunger never lessened but another hunger, one for a challenge, had formed. In attempt to regain interest and torment its victims, Null created games to play with them; games of deception using twisted mind-breaking abilities. It brought the sadistic fun back into Null's existence. Watching and following its prey as the declined. Null developed a taste for going after whole bloodlines if it found one to be particularly interesting.

By this age dragons had stories and legends about entities such as itself yet in the modern age many believed they were merely stories. Those that were more attuned to the supernatural or knew of victims however were more wary. Null loved dragons such as those the most. It was always more of a challenge to hunt them. The most recent target Null locked onto was pair of expert Supernatural Investigators. At first it had been attracted to the male's demonic history but with the female's introduction and the subsequent lineage, Null's interest increased. While it still goes after other other targets, this particular bloodline currently holds its hunting interests.

The first in the current bloodline that caught Null's attention. Cainwen's family history with possession and demonic entities is what drew the shade spirit's attention in the first place. The fact the imperial went down a path to become an expert in the supernatural only sealed the dragon's fate.

Not originally planned as a target but after stalking Cainwen and watching the pair bond and work together on their missions, Null changed its mind. With two working together, this would be a bigger challenge, which mean more fun for it.

This got even better when the two experts got together and continued their bloodline. Null enjoys the stalking and hunting of the whole lineage! If these investigators aren't careful, they'll fall victim to his tactics, no matter how strong and smart they claim to be.
