Rodetia

Verglas stands as Rodetia’s mentor. A Tundra that she and her sister, Fan, met and befriended during their time within the Icewarden’s domain. When Rodetia left the Southern Icefield for her native homeland, she invited Verglas along with her presenting him the Clan Leaders as a representative of the Ice Flight. She argued for his continued stay within the Clan, citing that he had experience and valuable knowledge to make the Clan’s underground caverns more liveable. Verglas is one of her closest companions, and they are most often seen together wandering the lair’s winding corridors or under leafy boughs when the weather and magic permits. Together with their little team, they were successful in devising sustainable underground living making it possible for the Clan to expand the Lair further downwards. Underneath the veneer of a professional relationship, however, is something else as Rodetia harbors deeper feelings for her friend and mentor. She has never vocalized her feelings and will not do so now that Verglas has taken a mate within the Clan.

There isn’t much that can be said about their relationship aside from the fact that it is currently in tatters. Rodetia has not seen her mother since she and her siblings came of age and were made to leave the Clan’s territories. There are vague memories of playing Catch or Hide and Seek, but the slinking and stern figure of the Matriarch is not the nurturing warmth that she remembers. Rodetia does not dare to refer to Kaletia as ‘mother’ or even bring up their blood relation with each other. She holds the older dragon at a distance and remains painfully formal during the minimal interactions that she has with her. Sometimes she thinks that she can smell longing or regret from the Mirror female, but fears that it is her own feelings playing tricks on her. Rodetia tries to tell herself that at least this painfully cordial relationship that she has with Kaletia is better than the situation with her father, Thereos, who ignores her altogether.

Rodetia was acquainted with Politia before she left on her journey with her siblings. She remembered Politia as an eager and friendly young Tundra and was very happy to discover that she was still living with the Clan upon her return. They rekindled their friendship quickly, even though Politia smells a little different then what Rodetia remembers. Though she still carries the scent of a friend, there are underlying notes of sadness and loss. Rodetia tries her best to cheer her friend up whenever she can, and distracts her with new mechanics and machinery. Politia is the only one who knows about her secret feelings for Verglas being the only one intuitive enough to make the guess.
