Biography
SWANN noble clever | observant | elegant |
About A pure-blooded Light noble. Swann hails from the House of Dusklight, one of the less-respected of Light's noble houses. Brought up to be a proper lady, she keeps her cordial demeanor even in the laid-back atmosphere of Traveler's Rest. Well, keeps it most of the time. When around those she trusts completely, Swann has a sharp wit and is unafraid to be a bit of a tease.

Story
The House of Dusklight is not among the highest ranks of Light nobility, hardly even qualifying as "noble." This meant that Swann had much riding on her shoulders, even from an early age. Taught to be flawless in everything she did to keep the wrath of more powerful nobles from falling upon her family, it was only a matter of time before that family attempted to marry her off in an attempt to raise their status. The match chosen for her was none other than Hraekon, the only son of the House of Zenith. Despite being a house of middling power at best, this would still give the House of Dusklight a boost to their status should the match be approved.
As part of the long process of arranging the marriage, Swann was sent to live at the massive Zenith Palace to meet with Hraekon and his parents. The two young dragons did hit it off, but quickly found that they had no desire to be married to each other. Unfortunately, it was out of their hands, as Hraekon's parents approved the match and prepared to announce the engagement. Before they could, however, Hraekon was spirited away by Hurricane, leaving Swann to face the results alone.
Hraekon's parents decided to take pity on Swann instead of sending her back home in disgrace. They allowed her to stay in their palace while they attempted to bring back their errant son. During this time Swann made good use of their extensive library and began to teach herself Light magic. This was something never covered in her lessons as a child, for in the Sunbeam Ruins, to practice magic is to pledge oneself to the service of the Lightweaver. This would have made Swann ineligible to be married, which would have doomed her family. So, of course, she had always wanted to learn magic. Though no master, she became quite proficient in manipulating light, much to the horror of her family when they came to take her home.
Swann was quickly sent on a vacation of unspecified length. In order to avoid any scandal coming out over her learning of magic, Swann's parents sent her as far away from the Sunbeam Ruins as they could manage, which happened to be to Traveler's Rest. Though not a place any respectable Light family would send their children or even be caught discussing, the Rest's cheap lodging fees meant that an unruly daughter could be sent there without draining the family's coffers. Swann was delighted to learn that she would finally get to see somewhere outside the Sunbeam Ruins, though she played the part of the chastised child. Upon arriving in Traveler's Rest, Swann was surprised to find that Hraekon had settled there, and was held in admiration and respect by both the citizens of the city and many dragons outside the Sunbeam Ruins. The two got caught up with each other, each glad to learn that the other was able to follow their true passions instead of following their families' orders.
Swann is now in the process of settling in Traveler's Rest for good. Her family most likely doesn't intend to bring her back to the Sunbeam Ruins, and she certainly doesn't want to go back. She continues to meet up with Hraekon for friendly cups of coffee, and these get-togethers have introduced her to both Hurricane and Vitenn. Swann doesn't yet know where her place in the Rest will be, but for now she enjoys practicing magic in the library and attending the many risk-free parties the citizens hold.
