Biography
VITENN astronomer shy | sweet | intelligent |
About A shy young Veilspun who lives in Traveler's Rest. Vitenn is a rare sight out on the city streets, as he prefers to keep to himself. Unless, of course, he's in the company of Hraekon. When he's not pining hopelessly, Vitenn works with fellow astronomers Aquila and Procyon to make star charts for the T.R.A.F.

Story
One of Hraekon's friends from his royalty days. Vitenn was Hraekon's parents' official astronomer, and he lived in the palace alongside the young prince. Hraekon often came up to his observatory tower, seeking a reprive from the constant performance of court life. He often looked over Vitenn's shoulder at his calculations, chatted about his latest alchemical experiments, and told Vitenn the kind of mood his parents were in that day so he could make his astrological horoscopes to match. Needless to say, Vitenn fell head over heels for him.
Vitenn began to draw away from Hraekon after coming to terms with his crush. He knew that Hraekon would have to marry to appease his parents and take the throne, and so he drew away in order to protect himself from the pain of watching Hraekon move on without him. But the hurt was as sharp as ever when Hraekon ran away after a royal ball meant to announce his engagement. Vitenn had come down from his tower for the ball, and had tried to get Hraekon alone so he could get a confession off his chest, but Hraekon had spent almost the whole night in the company of some ship captain Imperial.
Vitenn took Hraekon's running away hard. After the news broke that Hraekon had fled the castle with Hurricane, Vitenn went into a downward spiral. He locked himself in his tower, taking his meals through the door. He told the king and queen that the stars were not in position to give accurate readings. He spent endless nights staring up at the stars, thinking of Hraekon, where he was, what he was doing...who he was with.
Eventually, the king and queen got fed up with his refusal to give them astrological readings. They fired him from his position, and threw him out on the streets. Vitenn, still deep in the throes of pining, decided to use his newfound freedom to go find Hraekon. He tracked the ship Hraekon had escaped on down the coast of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, eventually coming to Traveler's Rest. He asked around, and when the citizens told him that the ship hadn't been seen in a long time, he holed up in a suite at the Stormshelter Inn. Kind-hearted residents, recognizing a pining dragon, brought him food and checked up on him. After a month of waiting, the ship returned, with Hraekon aboard. Vitenn immediately went to see him, but got cold feet just before going on board. The captain, Hurricane, found him just sitting outside her ship. She saw how hard he was pining too, and reassured him that she and Hraekon were just friends. With a little bit of dramatic delaying from Hurricane, Vitenn was finally reunited with Hraekon. The two are getting to know each other again, and Vitenn is still working up to that confession.

tarot reading by argente wrote:
The cups are a suit that deal with emotion and romance, and The eight of cups portrays a line of cups, arrayed in such a way that it seems like one is missing; on the background, a man walks away in search of something. This card signals that something in one's current circumstances is lacking, that the situation is emotionally unfulfilling, and in this case, and that the best way forward is to leave the lacking situation; in this case, it represents the journey Vitenn has taken to pursue happiness.
The Hanged Man is a contemplative card. Like Odin, hung from a tree for nine days until he attained wisdom, the Hanged man is, in some way or another, living in a state of pause. He does not act, as that would not be appropriate in his situation. The fact that the card is reversed, however, signals that the hanged man's contemplative period may be at an end, and the time has come to take the new insights gained and move forward.
And finally, the lovers. This card in this situation is plain enough! I was considering placing two of cups instead of the lovers in this reading, to signal a new or about to begin relationship, but didn't for two reasons. The first is that Vitenn and Hraekon maybe have not had the romance Vitenn wanted, but they have been close for many years before, a close relationship still represented by the lovers. And finally, as the two are totally exposed to one another, the Lovers is a card that expresses the need for communication, openness and honesty!
In the past Vitenn was in a situation that lacked love, and yet, did not act to correct it until the decision was taken for them. However, things have been put in place to correct the absence signaled in the eight of cups! The waiting period is over, the hanged man is no longer tied to the tree. Now is the time to act with the trust, communication and openness from the lovers! HINT HINT!
