Saule

Saule was born to a reasonably prosperous clan of the Sundial Terrace, to a family who loved the light so much they named the little hatchling for an old spirit of the sun. She was as brilliantly covered from the tip of her orange tail to her warm yellow eyes, but as she grew she became more and more drawn to a sunken dark patch on the horizon.
"It's just the Tangled Wood," one of her older relations would sniff when she asked. "Long ago, it was probably another part of our ruins, before the Shadowbinder took it over. Now it's just a murky, dark, depressing hovel filled with sickly trees and diseased vagabonds. Never go there."
Saule tried to listen, she really did, but one day, spurred on by supreme annoyance after an argument with her mother a spiral's natural curiosity just got the better of her. She flew over the Wood, knowing she would almost certainly get lost as soon as she visited the ground, but eventually a storm rolled in from the Sea. There appeared to be a clearing below, so she touched down, only to find herself in an open amphitheatre covered in junk. Eyes seemed to be following her, so she wandered through the debris until she found herself at the edge of a dark pool.
Suddenly, she heard a hiss behind her, and she was given hefty shove into the murky water. Blackness surrounded her, and she lost consciousness as the dark claimed her.
After awakening atop of mushroom covered log, Saule was never the same. Perhaps the Shadowbinder, unable to tolerate a dragon so clearly born to her sister, had claimed her for her own, or perhaps it was just residue magic in the pool. The only certain thing, as far as Saule was concerned, was that she would not be able to return home. She had no real desire to anyway, as the light now hurt her eyes and made her newly purple scales itch.
She traveled in the Tangled Wood for a time, but eventually found herself on the border of the shadow territory and the Viridian Labyrinth. Knowing there was no remarkable tension between these elements, Saule decided to go forth and explore, and eventually her travels took her to Clan Frood. Chiara and the others respect her for her connection to the Shadowbinder, and she does enjoy teasing Erebus and her mate Mitra, but sometimes Saule likes to look towards the west and wonder what might've become of her had she stayed in the sun.
