Northern Goshawks are nimble creatures that prefer forest habitats in North America and Eurasia. They spend most of their time on their perch and usually only spend around 83-94 seconds in the air while their hunting. The juvenile's will have pale yellow eyes and when they grow older their eyes change to red when they reach two years old. These types of birds only use their voice during mating season. They are most commonly found alone or in pairs as these birds are highly territorial.

During mating season, they breed around 520 times per clutch which is around 10 times a day. These birds will usually breed with the same partner over many years. Sometimes the males are killed during courtship if he does not provide the necessary criteria for the female. The nests length can be around 31-47in in length and 20-28in in width. They can build their nests to be 7.9-9.8in deep.
