Alvinius was no stranger to betrayal. Growing up, many had tried to take advantage of him and his brothers and sisters to gain wealth or power. They'd been the subject of many kidnapping and assassination attempts growing up. Alvinius had never expected to be betrayed by his flesh and blood. Vinny had been declared heir only days before, everything had been looking up. And then his father perished in his sleep. That had been strange enough considering the drake had been in full health only the day before. The very same morning, as preparations were being made for Alvinius' coronation, his own brother confronted him with a coup. In fear of his life, Alvinius fled the castle, heading across the sea to the Veridian Labythinth hoping the dangers of the unknown land would deter his pursuers. His brother spared no expense to hire skilled huntsman and bounty hunters to find Alvinius, however, and each time the nocturne thought he was finally safe, they'd find him yet again |
