Bylur
advisor | defensive | suspicious | solitary mate: N/A For most of his life, Bylur believed himself the only aberration. He had never met any others of his kind and was isolated from other clans in the Southern Icefield, believed to be a bad omen. Rather than dispute these accusations, Bylur embraced a solitary life, lashing out at any who approached. His ferocity likened him to mythic status, akin to a malevolent, wandering spirit, and many cowered in his presence. Then he began to hear whispers of dragons like him in the Scarred Wasteland. Bylur contemplated the possibility of other aberrations and feared the implication, believing them competition. Thus, he set off to confront them. It was in the Sanctuary that he met the first of his kind: a small gaggle led by a large, fearsome aberration named Vlad. Bylur challenged him to a duel and Vlad accepted. For hours they fought. Vlad attacked with venom and sickness that Bylur had never seen and though Bylur's hardened body resisted the contagion better than most, Vlad eventually wore down his defenses and Bylur surrendered. With his heads hung low, Bylur turned, but Vlad called after him, inviting Bylur to celebrate a well-fought match. Confused, Bylur asked why Vlad would welcome him. Vlad explained that he did not seek to belittle aberrations but to encourage them, and Bylur had fought bravely. He applauded Bylur for surviving the cold, barren Southern Icefield and believed such a tale could serve as inspiration for other aberrations. He asked if Bylur would remain in the Sanctuary to share his strength and knowledge with aberrations who had yet to find their way. Bylur agreed and joined the Sanctuary's aberrations, becoming not only a trusted advisor to Vlad but also a friend and confidante. No longer does Bylur see aberrations as competition, but as kindred spirits and strives to encourage and strengthen them.
