The Angel of the Afterlife got in the way of the Angel of Greymatter. The Angel of the Afterlife felt for souls of the people, and did not want to keep them in the afterlife when they could go to true rest. So the Angel of Greymatter replaced them, and cursed them to unhold the ceiling of the underworld. In response, the Angel of the Afterlife eventually broke the ceiling, letting more hell lose into the mortal world.
