Biography by Sparrowe
Chrysos always found it troubling that her name sounded like the word 'crisis.' She never could really accept that other people saw it similarly to 'crystal.' For the first quarter of her life, she was shy and had low self-esteem. She believed she was a crisis, a negative event in every life she touched. Chrysos hated her light, noticeable colors. By wearing dark colors, she tried to blend into the crowd whenever in public. She did not want to bring attention to herself; that would be horrible. Everyone would find a reason to dislike her. Struggling to maintain friends, Chrysos felt like a social failure. Every time she managed to hold on to a friend for more than a few months, that dragon would fly off to another Flight and never be seen again. She became convinced it was her fate to walk alone forever. |
Finally, after getting a few good friends and a mental rein on her own emotions, she started to feel better. She started to realize she was appreciated by those around her. She started to realize she had potential. She was an artist, for one. She'd been drawing quite often when she was alone. She also enjoyed preparing food. It had given her something to think about other than herself and her failures before. She'd made several recipes that all her friends loved. She also discovered she was a good mediator and negotiator. She wasn't great at public speaking or debate, but she had the ability to look at an argument unbiased from both sides and determine a solution that would satisfy both parties. |
Yet, she still worried her friends were just saying good things to her to be nice. Was she really that great? Did her recipes actually taste that good? Did they just act nice to her for the sake of being nice, but didn't actually like her? A few more deep conversations later, she realized that the people around her loved her for who she was, not for who she was trying to be. It wasn't what she was good and bad at that made her their friend. It was simply her, in all her greatness and not-so-greatness. |
