Orchid

One misty morning, while Rosen was watching over the nesting grounds, a lone egg began to stir. The hatchling that broke through the shell had the strangest eyes she'd ever seen! In a panic, the ridgeback started asking around, hoping to find the parents of this most unusual child, but none would claim her. Eventually, her search brought her to the usually silent Xix, who smiled knowingly and spoke the only words she'd ever heard from them: "Perhaps she is yours. A gift from the forest for you and your beloved."

Rosen and Marigold named the hatchling Orchid, and have been raising her as their very own daughter ever since. Now around eight years old, Orchid is a soft spoken and gentle young tundra who takes her studies very seriously. Her unusual traits don't end with her eyes, however, as she often speaks in a manner that suggests intelligence beyond her years, and claims she can hear the voices of every plant and tree in the forest. On occasion, she can be found in deep conversation with the trees surrounding the nesting grounds, asking them all manner of questions and then pausing as if listening intently.

Rosen has written this off as the over-active imagination of a child, but Marigold isn't so sure. Either way, her mothers love her and all of her quirks, and would protect her with their lives.
