Raised by a flock of harpies - her egg was accidentally pilfered in a raid and used as a nightlight for months before anyone considered that oops, that may not be a magically luminescent rock after all - Harpy grew up with stories not of the dragon deities, but of Talona, the Great Matriarch. When the gods did feature, they were invariably the villains, stripping Sornieth of precious resources and harpies of their culture with their ongoing wars.

Is it obvious that she's bitter? Good. It should be.

So it came as a shock when Harpy finally left her home (not by choice; it was collateral damage during a fight between two of the dragon gods' factions) and discovered that her original flock were the outliers. Beastclans and dragons, in fact, got along incredibly well now. The history she'd been taught was - if not an outright lie - a vastly outdated half-truth passed down by a paranoid, isolationist flock.

Harpy has never been able to shake the bitterness, though. She's adjusted to her expanded view of the world, however slowly, but she still thinks that all the fighting based on differing eye colors and magic is stupid. Flights seem so utterly pointless. She can't deny that the dragon gods likely exist, but she will never worship them.

It was at the peak of her edgiest atheist angst that she met Marrow.
