Biography

The casual passerby may mistake Ceres for a shiftless loafer, but he's on call to the Matriarch 24/7 whenever she enters into negotiations with another clan! His "superpower" appears to be conflict de-escalation.

Sometimes Ceres gets asked about his wooden toy puppet and he always answers the same, "Oh, it's a gift for my nephew..." He has many nephews, of that he's sure. And loads of young cousins. Dozens. (Perhaps hundreds). The important thing is it is not a lie. It's just that given his line of work, Pinocchio is much more valuable to him than to any hatchling. Someday, when he retires, Ceres will be sure to bequeath his Bogsneak Puppet to a nephew. Or grand-nephew. No one's going to make a liar out of him!
2022 A Serendipitous Meeting at the Wavecrest Saturnalia wrote:

Cobalt Glazed Vase 		It was the most amazing thing. Kasimir had been negotiating for this one amphora of lionfish venom. You'd think it would have been a snap. But the trader was a cantankerous old Bogsneak (Kasimir was not convinced he was sober) and kept Kasimir at the table for hours. The rest of the market had closed after the evening meal, but they were still here, haggling by the light of a lantern.
An elegantly cloaked Nocturne strolled by, his pale scales flashing briefly in the lamplight as he passed. Kasimir sighed and rubbed his face. He was getting too old for this.

"As I said before, my good sir, you can't just arbitrarily change the exchange rate..."

A pale blue claw came down on the Bogsneak's shoulder. "What's this, Gremlin? A little bit of trading after hours?" The Nocturne had circled back and now casually insinuated himself into the conversation. "I hope you're not tinkering with black market goods again..." 		78903725.png
"Eh, you again, Ceres? Meddlin' where you're no' wanted. 'S none of yor bus'nez..."
The Bogsneak was obviously not happy with this new arrival, but his aggressive behavior seemed to de-escalate. Negotiations were concluded with a quick pawshake and an exchange of goods for treasure (Kasimir wiped his paws well afterwards). The final price was high, but the Pearlcatcher expected to pay top dollar for pure venom. Champion's Purse
Kasimir decided perhaps Ceres was his new best friend.

Ceres joined him and they strolled toward the docks where La Fortuna was moored in readiness for the home voyage from the Wavecrest Saturnalia. Kasimir learned that the sleek Nocturne was embarking on an extended holiday. Would the elegant drake consider a stay on the Windswept Plateau? Kasimir could arrange passage on La Fortuna and he had connections at a first rate pub near the Three Corners Crossroads...?
