Dragons that live among the magic-charged crystals of the Starfall Isles
sometimes become a little...different. It's definitely not anything to be concerned about. Really. __There's a quiet suspicion that Mimi might not ...quite be a dragon anymore, exactly, but they're just so cheerful and eager to help out that nobody really wants to mention it within their earshot. If Ilane and Lallah have any insight on the matter, they're not sharing. __Whatever it is that happened, it's made surrounding magical energy react strangely near them- at first the unpredictability of the effect was frustrating, and several experiments and delicate instruments had to be scrapped after significant damage occurred. Then someone made an offhand comparison to a magnetic field, and suddenly this pile of engineers and tinkerers had a far better idea how to handle the phenomenon. __The parallel isn't exact it turns out, but after a few more weeks of trial and error, they went from being told to park themselves as far away as possible from anything interesting, to being told to park themselves in extremely precise predetermined positions to test calibration and effectiveness of various scanners and prototypes. __Even though all they're really doing is sitting, they're very happy to be in the middle of all the excitement now. (The occasional happy wiggle or tail-wag can still throw off readings, but such is the course of science.) __Several months into this arrangement, during one test particularly near a leyline, some kind of unexpected energy surge occurred, and when all the sparkly smoke cleared, Himiri was, thankfully, completely unharmed. __...Except there were two of them for some reason. __Noone has any idea how this occurred (least of all Mimi themselves), and it didnt take long before everyone decided it was just one of those weird things that comes with their presence. __There's seemingly no distinction between the 'new' Mimis, or between them and the original, though they started styling their outfits slightly differently to appease the pack members who insist on being able to tell them apart. Interestingly, while they don't share a consciousness, they do seem to share memories- one will reference a conversation the other had as though they were the one present, without realizing that this is strange. Like most Mimi things, they aren't particularly able to explain it if asked.
