Biography
Albatroz has taken it upon himself to supervise the port and keep it safe from any dangers. Raised with the strong belief to protect the world from the Shade, he scans all the new arrivals and fresh cargo with due diligence, for it could be hiding anywhere. He has familiarized himself with every nook and cranny of the port, and masterfully navigates its many waterway tunnels to get to any spot in record time. No beings of the shade shall cross the port as long as Albatroz is watching over. Born in a coastal village of the Southern Icefield, the gaoler met Cruella when she was on one of her trips to the area. Taking her for one of their own, and trusting her Gaoler nature, Albatroz had no quips with disclosing the history of the icy prisons within the continent, and local passageways to get there. But alas, what looked like an earth gaoler who was trying to reconnect with her ancient roots and duty, Cruella turned out to be more of an opportunistic treasure-crazy adventurer. Reckless and unafraid of what the shade was capable of, the adventurous gaoler happily ventured into the deep and would have certainly met her end were it not for Albatroz, who had hurriedly followed her upon realizing that she saw the shade as more so “a bad guy to defeat and take the bounty from” than anything else. |
After failed descriptions of how bad and harrowing the shade really was, (which only pumped up Cruella more) the gaoler managed to convince her to halt her expedition after reassuring her that there was no worthy treasure inside the icy prison.
That didn’t mark the stop for Cruella’s exploring whereabouts, for as she learned more about the place she ended up establishing good trading relations with her home clan and the Icefields clans and beastclans.
As time went on and experiences were shared, Cruella and Albatroz grew fond of each other. Cruella’s free spirit that seemed liberated from the shackles of the ancients’ duty was something that intrigued Albatroz. He had never seen such a disposition in a gaoler before, and it was a feeling he sometimes even yearned for, even if he didn’t like to admit.
They eventually became mates, and Albatroz joined Cruella’s Earth clan some time later. He departed with the blessing and the promise to his family to keep his new clan safe from the Shade, the way he had been taught. |

Warden’s comments:
We had a curious influx of plain looking nocturnes this month. I wouldn’t be suspicious normally; probably some of their sneaky preparations for their annual nesting, but after interviewing a few of them I noticed a very odd trend: almost all had no relatives they knew of.
And it wasn’t the nocturnes only; I’ve come across a few faes, tundras and obelisks with virtually the same backstory: that they hatched from a lost egg, never met their parents and that they can’t tell me much more.
And of course, none of them have any offspring or siblings I could refer to to confirm their stories…
There was even one case were the sailors discovered a nocturne hatchling wandering around the port without much direction. It seemed like he had come from one of the ships as a sneaky stowaway. An extensive search to find the parents has taken place with no result, and something tells me that we will likely never find them.
Even if I find recent events suspicious, as long as any being that sets foot on here is not Shade touched or a threat to my clan, it is not my business to take care of.
Many often forget that I set my watch here to carry on with my ancestors’ duty, not to act as some sort of unpaid supervisor. Oh, if the ships knew how much of those nocturnes were more than likely stowaways…
Alas, it is not of my concern. They don’t seem to be bear the smell of the Shade, no more than anyone else anyways.
