VALEFAR
Guild Leader
33mXUeA.png

Orphaned at a young age, Valefar Lightborne grew up in one of Iliora city's housing complexes for abandoned hatchlings, most of them trained and educated to one day serve the Lightweaver or promised to become apprentices, helpers or soldiers at Clans all around Light-bound land. But despite his early prowess as a warrior, Valefar started escaping into the world of books instead.

He lost count of the times he'd gotten yelled at by the orphanage's caretakers for keeping a flicker of his magic under his bedsheets past his bedtime. He wasn't picky, devouring any book he could get his claws on, but always had a soft spot for tales of adventurous escapades, and daring travel memoirs. Whatever broke the monotony of daily life. What was first seen as an innocent interest by the orphanage staff quickly grew into a troublesome pattern of behaviour as the rapidly growing young Guardian started acting out the stories he'd read about, dragging other children in make-believe play scenarios that kept getting increasingly elaborate. From a makeshift pirate ship comprised of scrap, impromptu flight-lessons on the roof, to wall-drawn treasure maps in the halls, Valefar seemed to be an endless source of fun for his fellow orphans and trouble for everyone else. His natural leadership skills and easy-going personality that once made him a favourite amongst staff, now became a surefire way to invite chaos.

Thus, Valefar was sent to apprentice in the Lightweaver's army at the tender age of 15. The plan being that strict military discipline would curb some of his less desirable traits. It made them worse instead.

Valefar somehow managed to be concistantly late. Unorganised and messy. Chaotic and terrible at following rules. Yet, frustratingly good at picking up new skills with some effort. In the meantime, his overwhelmingly possitive attitude only managed to anger each and every one of his commanding officers, who'd issue menial task after menial task for punishment, only to find out that Valefar would either find a new way to complete it faster or rope others into helping too. No matter who he ended up stationed with, Valefar's ability to befriend everyone was almost uncanny. A dangerous thing to do when he'd obliviously question commands constantly, creating issues for the upper brass, as his fellow soldiers, emboldened, would start chiming in too.

And so, Valefar was deemed a headache, and was scheduled to be shipped off to the edges of Light Territories. Far away, where the higher ranks of the military wouldn't have to bother with an opinionated welp. But destiny wouldn't have it. Two days before his reassignement, on a routine inspection, Valefar met his Charge and Starfated Familiar.

LANCELOTTE

If Lancelotte were to be asked to recount their meeting it might have gone something like this.

Lieutenant Colonel Lancelotte was overjoyed once she felt the strings of destiny sing as she entered the training grounds. Lightsprites, delicate and rare as they were, were never seen in the Weaver's armies, serving as her private messengers and ambassadors instead. Lancelotte had worked hard to climb the ranks usually reserved for dragons only, and she'd always feared the possibility of her Starpromised partner being a commoner. Without a doubt her political and military career would be over in an instant. But she felt that unfamiliar call there. Unless fate decided to play cruel games and hooked her up with the army cook, that meant her Dragon was here and active in the army! She thought she did a rather good job at hiding her excitement as she toured the grounds with the General. Was her partner going to be an Pearlcatcher? Their first memory of locking eyes would certainly be a lustrous addition to their pearl. Even an Imperial would do, even if their monstrous size intimidated her, they were the Weaver's first children after all. Her brain and their brawl would certainly be an unbeatable match. If they were a private she could teach them so many things! Mold them and guide them into a bright future. If they were a senior Officer she'd have a partner who understood and shared her dreams and goals!

She had a hard time stopping herself from twitching her antenae and excitadly looking left and right to meet her Fate.
