Scholarly, broad minded and very laid back for a Mirror dragon, Maldaviant seeks to further his prowess in battle through the study of ancient combat techniques set down in dusty Clan archives. Sometimes, the application of such knowledge proves difficult, which is how he got himself into the straits from which he was rescued by his guardian, firstmate and Clan Leader, MoteOfRadiance. He prefers not to dwell upon the ignominy of that event, looking ever forward to new victories.

Mote likes to tease Maldaviant that were it not for his armour (and size), she might not always tell the difference between him and his first Familiar. It has always been with him and its history is not known.

Maldaviant often takes off on extended hunting forays with his Mirror sons, Terroxor and Tempest. They can be quite a sight, running across the rolling hills of the region, sometimes joining with Mirrors from other Light clans because to Mirrors, the hunt eclipses everything, even clan.

Although initially mated to Mote, and still the best of friends, these two have taken new mates; their first pairing was more a matter of expediency, to establish the clan, and they are content for their legacy to live on through their children's children. But since Tempest, his second son by Mistral, left the clan to join the ranks of the Lightweaver, Maldaviant has thrown his full energies into training and spends increasing amounts of time away from the lair, resulting in cooling relations between him and Mistral.
