B I O G R A P H Y

It is common for newborn plague dragons to be infected with minor diseases in order to strengthen them. While they are building up an immunity to these otherwise non threatening diseases, they are not allowed to receive medical help in any way that relates to curing them.

Soon after Anton hatched, he was infected with common minor diseases. Though he did get very sick, it looked as though he would survive. The clan was excited, as Anton was showing signs that he would be a very strong dragon when he was grown. The warriors of the clan chattered among themselves, debating whether he would be trained to fight, or if he would be sent to fight for the PlagueBringer. In the end, it was decided that he would be sent to the PlagueBringer. A decision which his mother was not happy about.

Upon hearing what was to be done with her son, Anton’s mother found medical supplies, and cured him. In doing so, she weakened him in the eyes of the clan. She had hoped that it would spare him of becoming exalted, however she did not expect that it would get them both exiled.

B I O G R A P H Y

The clan was angry. They exiled both Anton and his mother, claiming that there was no room in the clan for two dragons who were so weak. The pair left in shame, and traveled around the Scarred Wasteland looking for any clan who would take them in. Most clans were not so kind. They could sense that Anton had not developed a strong enough immunity to common diseases of the region to survive.

After many weeks of travel, one clan was kind enough to allow them shelter for a few weeks. The pair separated themselves from the main body of the clan, and rested on the outskirts. It was there that they met a Wildclaw. She was very old, and rarely moved. There were many days when they wondered if she was dead. Overcome with curiosity, Anton’s mother approached the dragon and spoke gently to her. The wildclaw’s answer was halting, and her voice rusty from disuse. The exchange lasted only a few minutes, yet in that small amount of time, a bond was formed. Over the next weeks, Anton’s mother visited the wildclaw and listened to her stories. They shared their food, and wisdom. Though the wildclaw and the young mother shared a bond, Anton only spoke to the wildclaw once. She claimed that she was a direct creation of the PlagueBringer, and that there was dangerous magic inside of her. She did not speak to him for very long, as she feared that her magic would corrupt him.

It was not long after this exchange that word came to the clan of what Anton and his mother were. The clan was angry with them, and attempted to capture the pair of them. They found his mother, but Anton managed to hide. As she was dragged away, she called out to him, telling him to run. Telling him to follow the tree. Soon after they were gone, Anton did as he was told. He spotted the Behemoth in the distance, and ran towards it. It took several weeks to reach the edge of the labyrinth, and his arrival was less than graceful. The tired young dragon, dropped from the sky, landing hard on the ground. He was very lucky that there was someone nearby, and even more so that this dragon was on the search for members to form a clan with.

Sometimes, just sometimes, when all in the Gladekeeper's realm is quiet and still, Anton can hear the trees whispering to him in the same way they communicate to nature dragons. He cannot understand what they say, can only hear the barest hint of their secrets, but that alone is enough for him to know that his devotion means something.
