He spent much of his adult life as a wanderer and a loner, without a charge. Although he made the Crystalspines his home after encountering Cryptesth he still traveled around, and despite being the responsible parent was absent a fair portion of his children's upbringing. Even when he was around he was not the most social or communicative. After spending time with his stag he determined that his Charge was cursed creatures, those feared and rejected by the world (incidentally this also includes Cryptesth to a degree). Darmoor is also the literal guardian of the group, and would protect his family and Charges with his life. [from the Progenitors Theme Week]

Darmoor was restless even as a hatchling. He spent his adult years wandering around Sornieth, never quite making connections, always searching for something he didn't know. It was many years later during an excursion in the Crystalspine Reaches that he came across Cryptesth, a mirror obsessed with magic. He felt a draw towards her, one he didn't quite understand. It was on a hunting trip with her that he encountered a stag abandoned by it's own kind and took it under his wing. He continued his wanderings, but now not quite so far away, and he would always return at some point or another. As his bond with his familiar grew, he realized what his charge was, and what had been drawing him towards the mirror; to protect those that had been cursed, and rejected by society. He was always the saner parent for their children, but his frequent absences negated much of that benefit. [from the Meet the Dragon thread]
