Role: The first Elf King to die, Traitor

He is: Oberon's younger brother. Herla's grandson. Queen's son. No one liked Balric. Ever since he was born people felt nothing but contempt for him. Even The Gods seemed to dislike him. The only people who cared about him was his mother and brother. He never cared about the hate he received That is until his mother died. Because he had been alone in the room with his mother right when she had died, everyone began to believe that he had killed her. To make things worse, there was no body for his mother's funeral. It was as if she just vanished. Only Balric and a High Priest knew what happened to it, but to tell the public what happened would only make things worse. He became depressed, rarely leaving his mother's room. He blamed himself for her death. And he would die believing that. |
Oberon felt sympathy for his brother. He knew how close he was to his mother, and he felt like no one seemed to be giving him a chance. So, against the gods orders, he made his brother King of a small kingdom not far from his own.
No one was very keen on Balric becoming a King.
So much so, that his kingdom was rarely acknowledged by the other royals and the gods. And while the kingdom seemed well enough, many of its people preferred to believe that their kingdom was ruled by Oberon.
Over he years, Balric became bitter and jealous of his brother. The people loved his brother, for seemingly no reason other than his looks and gifted talent. And they hated him for simply existing, with his mistakes only fueling the fire. The world was against him and there was nothing he could do about it. He closed himself off from other kingdom's, including his brothers, eventually closing himself off from his own kingdom.
During the war he took great interest in the military. Having watched and studied every battle prior to the war, Balric felt like he was competent enough to partake in the war.
He wasn't.
Having assembled his own team of soldiers, many of them weren't very well trained in the art of battle. His inexperience with actually executing battle tactics also didn't help. So they LOST. EVERY. SINGLE. BATTLE. Even so, for the first time in a long while, he had managed to get some respect from someone other than his family. While many people still seem to hate him, the soldiers and the guards who served under him seemed to NOT hate him. After all, he was actually doing something. He was going into battle with them.
Over time Balric learned that it was okay to get help from others, and eventually they actually began to win a few battles.
Then he was paid a visit from a new threat, The Monster King.
Caught off guard(lol), many of his guards were taken out by his... Projectile vomit... Balric, Knowing that he was vulnerable without his armor tried to escape, but the Monster King was able to catch up. He fought as best he could, but he was eventually taken down.
Thus him becoming the first King to die.
But he did not die completely. The plague that he had been infected with brought him and his guards back to life. As zombies... Sentient zombies.
Balric awoke and realized The Monster Kings potential. His potential to destroy those who wronged him. Ignoring the fact that his insides were hanging out, he put on his armor and went to go search for the Monster King. Along the way he had managed to infect his soldiers with the plague. He lead his undead army in search for the one who gave him a new life.
By the time he found the Monster King, or as he went by, Conquest, the plague had already began to affect his mind. Fortunately for Conquest. Using Balric's jealousy and hatred against himself he offered him a deal:
Balric helps Conquest win the war, and Conquest makes him a hero.
Balric accepted the deal. Officially making him a traitor to his own kind.
The war ended when Conquest used Balric as a distraction, allowing him to shoot and kill Oberon with a plague tipped arrow. Balric, who's body and mind had become too decomposed to think properly, stumbled over to Oberon's body and tried to take his crown. Unfortunately he died before he could reach it.
