One of the four permanent nursery residents, Gulzaar and his "twin" cousin, Cicero, dedicate their efforts to watching over the hatchlings of the Nightwalker Clan while their parents are away.
Despite his gruff exterior and blunt attitude, most hatchlings hang onto Gulzaar's every word (and sometimes, to his chagrin and Cicero's delight, his tail), eager to earn an inch of praise, or to hear another epic tale of ancient warriors and powerful myths (He does try to impart the importance of the social and economical ramifications of these histories, but the youngsters are usually more impressed by the bloody parts).

He teaches primaries to the hatchlings, and his domains cover all theoreticals ("paper skills", Cicero will say) such as literacy, world history, religious history, mathematics, social studies, geology and geography, economics, and, yes, even the basics of battle strategy, ballistics, and weapon smithing.

Outsiders assume he will be the dispenser of discipline of the two cousin caretakers, though the hatchlings know better. Even if he snaps and growls when they do it, Gulzaar never has the heart to shove away the many younger hatchlings that inevitably use him as a fluffy bed after midday lessons.
