Biography
He may not have been born like his sister. The glowing runes that framed the galaxies that were her eyes told him clearly she was special, but they told him something about himself too.
He knew their parents were scared, the way they hid his sister under the portion of a cape that father wore. The way they spoke, the imperial's barely contained quiver.
The sudden journey in father's arms was odd, though he did not fall asleep as he knew his sister had.
"And who is this?" New voices. His head turned to see a flash of yellow, spotted in black. The wildclaw that stepped forth regarded the pair with a narrowed gaze. "I've seen you before."
From behind her, two imperials slid from the shadows of the barely lit cavern beyond. Their heads were not raised high, but lowered in obedience. Teeth were presented, a threat of harm for the time being.
"Shymmr sent us." Mother spoke, the bundle that was his sister stirring in her arms. Her head moved and claws pulled the cloth away to reveal the hatchling. The runes gave a brighter glow as she yawned, waking from her nap.
The three yellow dragons gave the hatchling a long, hard look.
"It's because of my daughter yes? And because of what I stand for." The wildclaw stood taller, the imperial pair behind her backing up just a step.
"These are our first hatchlings. Please, until they are old enough-"
"We follow the lairfather here. That witch has yet to bother us, but should she try..." Teeth were bared, eyes widened and sparks flickered over fur and feather, between claws and even fangs as the female spoke again. "Oh but I would love it should she try."
He could feel father quiver slightly, though the crystal scaled mirror didn't let it deter him as the first wildclaw summoned another with a chirping sound. The new arrival carefully gathered his sister up, then glanced over to him. He stared at her, unflinching before looking to the one that was obviously the leader of the group of yellow primary holding dragons.
"He would be welcome to stay as well." The words were added after the shared look, startling the parents. "The pair might have a destiny. Time will tell. And we will protect."
The male hatchling's eyes met with his father before looking to his mother. He understood, and it seemed as he did, so too did they. He held no hesitation as he was set on the ground, following after with almost impressively quick steps before looking over his shoulder and offering his parents his first smile before slipping into the darkness.
