Moving Forest
The nights in the forest of Sornieth can be quite challenging after the last of the light from the fireflies have faded it the dark corners reach out, encompassing all the forest in a blanket of coal black night. The moonlight struggles to break through the thick clouds above as you tentatively make your way down the path. Your feet , reaching out and sweeping the ground, step out and avoid tripping on any loose stones or branches. You're careful with your movements in this dark place so you don't loose your footing or become lost, each step purposeful and counted. Trying your absolute best to keep your bearings and sense of direction. The night here is still, the only sound accompanying you is some nearby crickets sleepily chirping their night-time lullabies, and you hope that the moonlight's glow will escape the unexpected prison of clouds and dimly reveal the path ahead. The familiar chirps of the crickets abruptly come to a halt, the forest now enveloped in an eerie and deafening silence. Then loud snaps and cracks of branches break and echo into the cool air, leaves shuffle harshly and whip with excitement. The abrupt chaos startles you and the compass you held in your hand drops to the ground with a clink and rolls behind you. Turning back to pick it up you are met with a large hulking tree that hadn't been there before, and not anticipating the massive tree, you walk straight into it and hit your head. Falling backwards onto the ground and now facing the sky you could swear you see the foliage of the tree top moving, revealing the bright green eyes of a dragon.

~ When Cedar hatched he was bathed in the mystic glow of a super full moon; where the moon was at it's biggest and brightest and leaked out copious amounts of energy into the world. That's how Cedar gained his, albeit humble, amount of magical power. This coupled with his terribly mischievous personality usually spells trouble for the adventurers lost in the wood he resides in. His deep brown markings are akin to the wooden bark of a tree, his hair a lush green with sparkling clusters of gems nestled into it, and for all intents and purposes he was the perfect image of a tree when camouflaged in with them. Harnessing his powers and natural camouflage ability has led him to finding his favourite trick to play on others; to move the trees along the forest floor creating a labyrinth that's ever moving - leaving all types of creatures that wander into his trap confused and, of course, lost in the maze of trees as the path behind them closes up. |
