Enduring, immutable, unchanging.

Khoskrim learned the craft of stone carving with eyes set toward the past, the masterworks of centuries ago still enduring long past their creators. He yearned to make his own mark, to set his ideas and loves and dreams into immutable stone–but like many a young artist, he’d scarcely begun when he found the toils of daily living drawing more of his attention than his craft. Little good a legacy would do him if he couldn’t pay for food, let alone materials or a workshop.

But he found himself lucky. His works, what few he’d managed to produce before the end of his apprenticeship, attracted the attention of a wealthy benefactor. I see a spark in you, they told him. Your sculptures breathe, they have a presence–there’s an unpolished edge to them now, but I eagerly await what you’ll do, given the chance to explore, to experiment.

And so Khoskrim did. With every piece, his creations grew ever more polished, more lifelike; with every presentation, his patron's praise grew more effusive, more encouraging. Khoskrim glowed with pride, and yet wondered... would his patron ever be satisfied? Just how much life did they think he could put into stone?

♥ ONE (his patron) Khoskrim has thrived under their support and praise, excited for each visit they pay him - but sometimes he wonders if simple admiration for the arts can explain such an ardent appreciation of his creations.
