He can control his fire fairly well, but the power itself is growing with him, faster than his body can contain. It's slowly consuming him from the inside out, and lots of doctors have told him and Soren that when Aaron turns 20 he'll die from it. Aaron is currently 19 (for story reasons). Neither of them know it, but Aaron is technically a phoenix (but a dragon) so when he burns up he'll just be reborn as a hatchie again. With most of his memories.
Recently, a kindly Guardian dragon by the name of Yami put a seal on Aaron, creating his familiar and holder of his ever growing fire. With luck, Aaron will live a long life before he burns up once again. Maybe he will even find a loving mate. For now, though, Aaron can enjoy the loving hugs and contact with his father and adoptive sister that he has missed out on for nearly twenty years.
