Biography
MODEL The Ideal Role: Soldier Pronouns: none Bio: While it's all well and good to have specialized bots, Wiley wanted an army, and Light wanted a workforce. In both cases, they needed to have a large number of similar bots to make up the rank and file of their group. And they couldn't build every single robot by hand--it was just unthinkable. They needed a template, instructions that could be copied and duplicated en masse in a factory in the city they built. The bots had to be both sturdy and cheap--or cheaper, anyway, as no robot is truly all that cheap to produce if the materials are good. It was the work of the better part of three weeks and several gallons of coffee to come up with that plan, and build the first robot as a template to be followed. Model was that template. The first of the rank and file bots that were to make up the bulk of their laborers. Privately, Wiley was overjoyed, especially once they got the factory up and running and started to produce many of those robots. His army was assured. But once Light was out of the picture, Dr. Wiley found that the process at the factory never went quite as smoothly as before--and, much to his utter frustration, he could never discover why. Whether it was some flaw in the machines, or there had been ways in which Light hadn't trusted him, even before the breaking point, Wiley will never know now. Early on, the resistance targeted the factory. And while Wiley has rebuilt it since, attempts to recreate a template haven't gone so very well. The bots just aren't sturdy enough. And none of his numerous tries at reverse engineering Model, the original, have been anything worth much. But at least he does have Model, and the first few hundred of its copies. Though, obviously, he's lost many of those to previous attacks. That's why he actually keeps Model locked up at the Tower, instead of sending it out to fight--in the hope that someday he'll succeed in remaking the template exactly as it was, and he'll need Model still intact to judge his success. |
