XXXChii It is always darkest before the dawn |
Chii was born a Mirror under the eyes of the Lightweaver, a deity that was kindly. With her four eyes she looked at the world and her parents were happy. She was both active and curious, copying the moves of her father in her first moments on Sornieth.
As a young hatchling, she found herself finding things wrong with her appearance. She went through an unfortunate phase where she put on a ton of apparel each day. It wasn't until it got too out of hand that she was told to stop. She distracted herself with learning stories about different Flights. She sat in wonder as some of the best storytellers visited her clan. She decided, because she liked change, to change her colors whenever she heard a story that kept her up for days. Again, Chii was asked to stop when it became a little overdone. This time she agreed to tone it down so she could change colors to fit her mood. Depressing days she became shades of black while happy days she became pink. Sometimes she would choose colors at random, just because she was bored. Chii became great at helping dragons decide whether or not they should change their colors. Her clanmates were very surprised at how reasonable she was during these moments. It was almost like she was a completely different dragon that they had never met before. Years into her life she meant a dragon who was injured and from a different Flight than Chii. The dragon begged for her help and she ended up giving it to him. She helped make it so that her clan joined in healing the dragon. When the dragon was healed, he was extremely impressed by Chii. The amount of work she had gone through just so he could live was above and beyond what was needed. He had, of course, heard about her fondness of change and asked if she would like to become a different breed. Chii took a few days to decide. This wasn't just colors or apparel, it was a change of who she was. Of how she reacted to the world. With some fear in her voice, she replied that she would accept the blessing. The dragon breathed on her and suddenly she grew. It took her a few moments to recover from the change. When she had, she realized she was an Imperial dragon. As a servant of the Lightweaver, this was a high honor. This was an honor she had never expected to receive. She thought, though it was more a fancy than a real theory, that the dragon must be the Lightweaver in disguise. That she had blessed Chii for some service the former Mirror hadn't realized she had done. Years later Chii had become one of the most loyal servants of the Lightweaver. She never abandoned her eccentric roots, but she became someone much more deserving of respect. Someone who would do anything to keep the light strong in Sornieth. |
