Lore

Zary is the creation of the strongest thunder, created by the Stormcatcher to serve him, a job Zary did pridefully. Zary's job was to manage and command the Stormcatchers many workers and servants, to ensure they did their job correctly. Zary always went above and beyond for his job, he always worked his hardest and always worked his team the hardest, hoping to finally win over the Stormcatchers favor. Unfortunately, the Stormcatcher showed little interest in Zary, the lightning deity was more interested in Waltz, his fellow demi-god. Waltz worked along side Zary, and while he didn't command the workers as he did, Waltz commanded and controlled the storms. Not only did Zary have a grudge against Waltz for having the Stormcatcher's liking, but he also hated Waltz for his job performance. Waltz loved to daydream, always living in another world instead of the present, causing him to slack at his job and constantly made many mistakes because of it. Zary loved perfect and flawless work performance, and Waltz's slacking work performance infuriated him greatly.
---
"You didn't connect these wires correctly!" Zary sighed irritably as he looked at a young servants attempted to set up an electrical mainframe, all of the wires were connected wrong and it looked as if there was no attempt at all. The servant however, looked horrified.

"I-I'm so-so sorry!" The servant stammered. "No one showed me how to set it u-"

A loud, ear piercing boom sounded overhead, cutting off the servants words. The whole warehouse immediately went dark, quickly followed by screams of horror from the servants and workers. Waltz, that stupid, useless fool! Zary thought furiously to himself. He has one simple job, and he obviously failed! We've lost power, we NEVER lose power!

"W-What should we do-"

"SOMEONE HELP THIS SERVANT SET UP THIS MAINFRAME!" Zary roared furiously at the servant. "I HAVE TO GO HELP ANOTHER IDIOT WITH ANOTHER VERY SIMPLE JOB." The servants at the warehouse gasped in shock and surprise at his obvious disliking to Waltz, but his patience with his fellow demi god were growing thin. How could he fail so badly?!

As Zary went to search for Waltz, he was horrified to see that, not only had the whole entire lightning domain got pitch black in darkness, but the temperature was decreasing as well, causing the normally whole Shifting Expanse to quickly become chilly and cold. Darn it, Waltz! he yelled in his head as he finally found him. Zary quickly clambered up the factory stairs to reach Waltz, who was staring absent mindedly at the mess he created, staring at the pitch black Shifting Expanse below and listening to the confused screams of the mortal lightning dragons below. As soon as Zary reached Waltz, his fury overtook him as he tightly squeezed Waltz's shoulder, screaming into the demigods ear "WHAT. HAVE. YOU. DONE!?"

Waltz turned around in terror, finally realizing the truly what he had done as he felt the cold Shifting Expanse around him and saw nearly nothing except pitch black. "I- I don't know! I'm sor-"

"DONT!" Zary snarled. His rage turned into fear. The Stormcatcher! What will he say about this? What will the whole domain say about this? They can't blame me for this, this is all Waltz's fault, but surely the Stormcatcher will somehow find a way to be mad at me too, as he usually was. Zary thought to himself. "Listen, Waltz, just get the storms and power back up and we won't mention this ever again. We'll be lucky if the Stormcatcher hasn't noticed yet, we only have a couple of minutes, so just.. boot everything up again.."

Absent mindedly and slowly, Waltz began to bring the storms back to the Shifting Expanse and the famous desert heat finally started to return. The storms began to roll in, lights to shops and warehouses slowly began to turn back on and the desert began heating up, finally, everything was back to normal and the Stormcatcher hadn't noticed Waltz's horrible mistake-

"WALTZ, ZARY, COME HERE IMMEDITELY!" The Stormcatchers outraged voice boomed in the distance. Zary's heart sank in horrible fear and regret. Oh no, he definitely noticed! He looked over to Waltz, who had the same absentminded expression as he always did, but he could tell that, somewhere in Waltz's mind, he was terrified. Surely, only Waltz will be in trouble, if he cared a little more about his job, maybe this wouldn't have happened! he thought irritably to himself, once again not understanding why Stormcatcher favored Waltz.
---

Waltz and Zary sat in front of the Stormcatchers throne in the Turrents of Goldensparc, the large lightning deity looked down at Waltz and Zary with obvious disappointment and anger, his eyes flicking back and forth from Zary to Waltz. However, to Zary and Waltzs surprise, the Stormcatcher spoke quietly but furiously.

"You two are on thin ice for this. A power outage in just one area would have been somewhat excusable, but an outage across the entire domain? Waltz, I really am disappointed in you, your incompetence as a demigod is deeply upsetting. However, Zary, it is your job to watch over and manage the workers of this factory, and that includes Waltz. You should have been keeping a better eye on them, then maybe this outage wouldn't have happened." The Stormcatcher's voice boomed.

Zarys heart skipped a beat. Surely Zary misheard? Why am I in more trouble than Waltz? This was all HIS fault, not mine!

"But.. but sir I-"

"SILENCE."
The Stormcatcher's voice echoed through the near empty halls, he turned his hateful stare to Zary, making aggressive eye contact with the demigod.

"Zary, you claim to love your job, you claim you do your job efficiently and pridefully, and obviously that isn't so. Your obvious disliking towards your fellow demigod has caused you to slack on your job, you job being to watch him and many other lightning workers, correct?" The Stormcatchers voice became louder and more aggressive.

"Yes sir, but-"

"You had FAILED, Zary! You are supposed to ensure Waltz is doing his job correctly, perhaps if you cared a little more about your job, than many you would have been there to stop this tragedy, but no, you weren't. This is as much your fault, if not more your fault, than Waltz." He could hear Waltz let out a small sigh of relief, relieved that Waltz didn't suffer most of the trouble and blame. But as Zary made eye contact with the scornful Stormcatcher, he couldn't help but be enraged and furious, his anger quickly escaped from him.

"Surely, you are joking?" Zary snarled. "It shouldn't be my job to watch over an incompetent and lazy demigod. Waltz should be able to do his simple job on his own, without any guidance!" He snarled, locking eyes with Waltz, who looked horribly surprised.

"Zary, I-" Waltz began, but Zary's aggressive growl cut off Waltz's words.

"YOU OBVIOUSLY FAVOR WALTZ FOR REASONS I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND, I DO MY JOB CORRECTLY, ITS NOT MY FAULT WALTZ CAN'T DO HIS!"

"ZARY!" The Stormcatchers booming voice warned, but Zary's anger couldn't be contained any longer. Zary's long resentment towards the Stormcatcher and Waltz's began overflowing.

"Its not fair!" Zary snarled, shoving his face into Waltz's, who flinched in fear. "He slacks at his job, he messes up all the time, my guidance couldn't help him if his life depended on it, and yet, I do my job flawlessly, I go above and beyond, and yet you still favor HIM? Zary snarled, lightning began crackling and sparkling off his body.

"Oh, come on now, Zary! You act like I don't try at all, but I really do-" Waltz began.

"Oho, really? Because when you cause a massive power outage like that it doesn't really seem like it. It looks to me like you got lazy, like you ALWAYS do." Zary snapped back, lightning still emitting from his body.

"ZARY" The Stormcatcher snarled. "You are on thin ice as it is, do not continue to anger me, servant."

Waltz's usually calm face immediately twisted into anger, which shocked Zary as he was always used to this demigod being passive and calm. "STOP ACTING LIKE I DID IT ON PURPOSE! DO YOU HONESTLY THINK THAT I WOULD CAUSE A POWER OUTAGE ACROSS THE ENTIRE SHIFTING EXPANSE JUST BECAUSE I GOT LAZY?? CONTROLLING EVERY SINGLE STORM IN THE ENTIRE DOMAIN IS SO MUCH HARDER THAN IT LOOKS, MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY IT SOMETIME INSTEAD OF JUST YELLING AT OTHER DRAGONS ALL DAY!" HOW DARE HE! Zary's mind screamed.

"Zary, I am sorry-" Waltz began, but it was cut off but the loud crackling sound of thunder that was radiating off Zary's body. Waltz's eyes widened in shock, he began taking a few steps back from Zary, who stared hatefully at Waltz. In a split second, Zary summoned a powerful lightning bolt and blasted Waltz, the blow causing him to fly backwards, Waltz yelped in surprise and pain as his body hit the wall.

Zary stared furiously at Waltz as he slowly and weakly began getting up, but it only took a few moments to realize truly what he had done. He had harmed Waltz, his fellow demigod, in front of the Stormcatcher Zary felt sick with regret and shame. When Waltz's stood uneasily on his legs, he could see the shock and regret in his eyes too. They had both said and did things they hadn't had meant, or not fully anyways. Of course, Zary was furious that Waltz got special treatment and caused the power outage, but deep down Zary never wanted to hurt Waltz, they had been friends for years, and even though he knew about Waltz's daydreaming and reality problems and how much it irritated him when it caused him to mess up on his work, Zary desperately wanted his friend to get better, even though he never said it to him. At Zary's anger at the Stormcatcher, he had harmed his friend, something he never dreamed of doing.

I'm not mad at Waltz... He realized. I've been mad at the Stormcatcher the whole time, for his unfair favoritism and his constant demands... I've been taking my anger out on Waltz when it should be the Stormcatcher I should be angry with...

"Zary.. I'm truly sorry, I just-" Waltz began.

"NO." The Stormcatcher interrupted, his voice louder than ever "ZARY. HOW DARE YOU ATTACK YOUR FELLOW DEMIGOD, HAVE YOU NO SHAME?" He roared, crashing one of his bony claws onto the ground between the two demigods, separating them to prevent further fighting.

Zary's lightning crackling off his body faded at once as he looked regretfully at the Stormcatcher, who looked more furious than he had ever seen him. "Stormcatcher, I-"

"ZARY, YOU ABSOLUTE VILE FILTH." The Stormcatcher snarled. "I am sick of your insubordination, and today, you tried to kill Waltz, your fellow demigod. That is the last straw, you've officially fallen through the ice. From today forward, you are BANNED from the Turrents of Goldensparc. You are not allowed to come back, not now and not ever. You are FIRED from your job of supervising the servants. Come back here again and I will not hesitate to strike you down."

Zary gasped in surprise, his heart sinking in fear and regret. "No, no, no, please! Stormca-"

"GET OUT OF HERE, NOW!" The Stormcatcher bellowed, lightning sparkling off his body as he stared hatefully at Zary. Zary turned to Waltz, who looked just as shocked and surprised as he did. Zary desperately wished he had time to apologize to Waltz, but he knew the Stormcatcher wasn't one to give second chances. Fearfully, Zary bolted out of the Turrents of Goldensparc, his heart breaking knowing he would never see the Stormcatcher, Waltz, or his servants ever again.
---
Zary had flown for days, homeless, cold and alone. All he had ever known was serving the Stormcatcher, what would he do now?

Eventually, Zary stopped flying and landed in a nearby Kingdom in the Shifting Expanse, the Arashi Kingdom. The "Kingdom" was obviously small and most of the buildings looked... burnt? It was obvious the building was currently being rebuilt, so this kingdom was obviously new. As soon as Zary landed, he was approached by a tall skydancer with friendly eyes, who smiled widely when he saw him.

"Hello! I'm Aoke- KING Aokean, you must be Zary, the demigod of lightning, correct? I've heard lots about you."

"You must've heard only bad things, correct?" Zary laughed lightly, his regret stabbing him like a thorn.

"Ah, well, you must've heard only bad things of me too..." Aokean sighed. "I am also a demigod, created by the Flamecaller, but I serve her no longer." Aokean! he realized. The demigod of war, created by the Flamecaller to help dip the Fire V.S. Ice war in her favor. What's he doing here now? Had he been banished just like he has?

"Were you banished?" He asked in shock.

"Well, no... I left, I couldn't stand working for the Flamecaller any longer. I've come here for a second chance, and I am glad to give anyone a second chance if they are willing to stay in my kingdom." he smiled kindly. "I've heard about what happened between you, the Stormcatcher, and the other demigod."

"I've been banished." Zary admitted. "I pray to the Gods no longer, I have no place to go, I've lost everything, I have nothing."

"Me and you are a lot alike." Aokean spoke after a moment of silence. He held his hand out, flames immediately burst out of his palms. Bright blue dangerous flames dance in his hands. Hesitantly, Zary held his hand out too, lightning sparks began crackling off his hand. "We are both demigods, despised by our creators for, quite honestly, unfair reasons. I know that you might be heart broken to leave the Stormcatcher's work behind, you might feel useless and weak now, but I reassure you that, no matter what you've done, you and many other dragons deserve a second chance, a second chance I am willing to give you."

Zary remained silent for a moment, and when Zary didn't know how to reply, Aokean went on. "Come join my kingdom, the Arashi Kingdom." Aokean urged. "I will offer you the job of being my royal advisor. I know that you are smart, capable and are great at guiding dragons to do great things, and I believe you would be perfect for the job. And, quite honestly, I hardly know how to be a king." He laughed softly. "I believe you would be able to help me, if you're willing."

Zary gasped, and he smiled brightly in the first time in a long, long time. "Of course, I would love the job! Thank you, King Aokean, I won't let you down."

"I know you won't." King Aokean smiled.
