Biography
Lusca: a scholar and a gentleman. Also a menace to society. It's possible to be all three.
timeline: i mention in the water discord that there's a cheap, fully gened aberration on the market and that it would make a good scatter project. jaspernoir makes the first move. i am paid for the work i'm doing on badges early, and i'm coincidentally paid enough for both dragon and scatterscroll.
"Faillon" is bought as Flint/Goldenrod/Lapis.
i move to the dragon share channel to ask for luck- i don't usually have the ability to do things like this, so this roll is my only shot. people send plenty of it! :)
i roll the dice and lose my mind. at this point, a decent amount of the discord community both in and out of flight is following along.
he is scattered into lead/abyss/metals, and now looks like this:
everyone is extremely happy for me. i'm extremely happy for me! i'll probably give him a different treasure gene at some point to make him more matchy, but that's way down the line. it should end there.
it does not end there.
seamists: "So we all agree we’re gonna crowdfund this dragon right /hj"
the answer quickly turns out to be yes. yes they are, and i am not allowed to argue. at first i try to only scry with treasure genes- this is quickly barrelled through as my 'crowdfunders' scry with various gem genes and bop me with a newspaper when i try to stop them. at this point i am fully helpless to the wave of a good five to seven strong discord friends who insist he looks as pretty as possible. scries continue; gourami asks if he needs an accent, and i mention that, with his colors, i was considering giving him the kraken one from wavesat '22. scrys immediately start to focus on building around the accent. i get sent messages by multiple people who either want to pitch in or simply be kind. of note:
seamists has "an extra copy" of facet in their hoard. i cannot fathom having an extra gem gene lying around, but apparently it was for a project they decided to drop. it's sent to me.
after a conversation on what works best for his primary, we settle on fade. (seamists has been barred from giving any more gifts for this dragon.) gourami steps in and sends me a message with what i need.
we talk a bit about changing his tert, but i insist that if people think i'm going to think i'll step away from a metals sparkle they probably need to recheck my brand.
(my brand is making colors work as they are. this one Works.)
done regening him, i insist to the others that he needs one last thing- a new name. it's tackypotato who comes up with lusca, a tentacled sea monster of carribean folklore. just like that, over the span of a few hours and multiple excited conversations... he's done. lusca is done, and there are so many people to thank for encouraging and supporting me over such a random thing that i don't know how i'd even get through them all without figuring out how to make columned lists. lusca is loved.
i guess he's important to me mostly because this didn't happen for any occasion- people didn't have a reason to feel guilty or pressured on anything, like for a birthday or in the holiday season. he just... happened. my lusca, for no real reason than i'm lucky enough to have people who want to know i'm smiling.
