Leia is now General of the Resistance against the Shade: using the Ancient Sanctum as a base, she coordinates a network of allies that stretches across the whole of Sornieth. However, to her mate Solo, she will always be a Princess.

Leia grew up in the realm of Light. She was raised as the Princess of Alderaan, an influential Light Clan on the outskirts of the Sundial Terrace. Her loving adoptive parents, King Bail and Queen Breha, taught her the arts of diplomacy, negotiation and tactics. As she grew older, they frequently remarked with pride that she had inherited her nestmother’s strength of character, her loyalty and conviction, her compassion and dedication to what was right. However, Leia herself has only very faint hatchlinghood memories of Padme. She disappeared when she was very young. All Bail and Breha would say on the matter was that she had left to protect Leia. Like her nestmother, she is wise, discerning and kindhearted, but she is also passionate, fearless and forthright, and these are gifts from her nestfather.

The Shade had been steadily growing in strength throughout Leia’s life, and as she reached adulthood she joined her parents in their fight against this threat to dragonkind. Alderaan was a peaceful clan, so their efforts were based on research and theory rather than physical combat, but they also brought together warriors from all over Sornieth to resist the encroachment of the Shade. However, this drew the attention of the Shade-faction’s terrifying leader, the dreaded Emperor Palpatine.

He dispatched his right hand, a powerful Shade-touched Wildclaw known as Vader, to wipe out Alderaan.

In the battle that followed, Alderaan was destroyed and Leia was captured. She was taken aboard Vader’s vast airship, the Death Star, for interrogation and imprisonment. Her final act of rebellion was to send her faithful constructs to the Shifting Expanse with a message for one of her nestmother’s old allies.

The gamble paid off: Artoo the Chromefeather Lookout and Threepio the golden Silverstring Harp found Kenobi and passed on the message entrusted to them: “Master Kenobi. Years ago, you served with my parents in the Shade Wars. Now we beg you to help us in our struggle once again. I regret that I am unable to present my request in person, but my Clan has fallen under attack and I'm afraid that my mission to contact you has failed. I have placed information vital to our efforts to stop the Emperor inside this Chromefeather Lookout. You must retrieve it, and find what we have been searching for. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Kenobi. You're my only hope.” However, Vader was hot on the constructs’ heels.

The Death Star caught and seized the airship Kenobi had chartered in the Highland Scrub. Though he and his companions avoided capture, they were trapped on board. While Kenobi worked to free their ship and call for aid, his new apprentice Skywalker, the airship’s brash captain Solo and his first mate Chewbacca made their way to the brig to free Leia.

Unfortunately, Skywalker’s presence attracted Vader’s attention and he was forced to fight to give the others chance to escape. Vader was too powerful. Skywalker lost a hand, but was able to escape from Vader’s crashing airship with his life.

Aboard the Millennium Falcon, Leia and her new band of allies fled to Cloud City, a Clan in the Cloudsong ruled by Solo’s ‘old friend’ Calrissian. There, Skywalker received a Lightning prosthetic and the group had a brief opportunity to recover and prepare for their onward journey. Leia had hidden within Artoo the pieces of a map, which Kenobi and Skywalker had reconstructed. It pointed to a remote island in the Crystalspine Reaches, which might hold the key to defeating Vader and Palpatine once and for all. On the journey, Kenobi told Leia and Skywalker the truth about their heritage.

Threepio was crafted to bridge the gap between dragonkind and Beastclan: he is enchanted to understand all known forms of communication. This translation magic has overwritten his form's original function as a musical instrument. The runic inscriptions also granted him sentience. Age has since tarnished his golden metal exterior, and experience has left him rather dented and battered. However, he still takes pride in ensuring that, whenever possible, he is polished to a high sheen. A rather prim and proper construct, Threepio always tries to stick to the correct protocol for the situation - though he is prone to fits of dire pessimism! His dearest friend is Artoo, Skywalker's construct companion. Despite their many arguments, on practically every subject under the sun, they are deeply fond of one another.
