Aquila and Scorpius have always been seekers, prowling the border between the Southern Icefield and the Starfall Isles. It's a duty that Aquila takes quite seriously. Her acute magical senses can detect shade from some distance, and her dark coat is helpful for approaching targets under the veil of night. Most of her targets come in through the sky above the Isles, so she's surprised when she gets the message about Vexichor and Sethe. Keepers and researchers both, they've suddenly gone rogue.

Alarmed by the implications, Aquila immediately sets to tracking them. It's not hard to pick up their trail, both of them being studious sorts unused to travelling outdoors. Their trail leads Aquila and Scorpius north, weaving between Arcane and Plague territory until they reach the edge of the Shadow domain. The miasma of the shade gets denser as they reach their destination, its dark fingers pulling and prodding everything. Aquila finds it sickening. By the time they reach its nexus, the Forbidden Portal itself, she's almost too nauseated to stand.

But she'll have to get used to it, because there is a lot of work to be done here.
